Nasty Heather! She can't be that bad, can she?
When people get lead around like sheep, they're called sheeple. Sheep + People. Or, as Mark Brown calls it, political idol worship. Fagus, O'Neil, James, Hogan, Ginderske, Bares, Frazier, Sullivan, Cahill. I would name at least a dozen more people that fit this mold in Rogers Park. But they're afraid to say who they are in public. Those are the cowardly runts of the litter who lurk on this blog.

hey, i am not a heather fan. and ya know what? i have not been given one word of grief for supporting suzanne. not one. the closest i have come to sticking up for heather is just trying to keep it out of the gutter, and accurate.
the funny thing about the way i am seen of this blog is that you have only ever seen me backed into a corner. that's the only time i post here. i am passionate about politics, no problem admitting that. but it is a lot more complicated than that, and i am a lot more interested in the process than the personalities. as the people who know me in meat space mostly know.
and that mark brown piece? be prepared for an onslaught of that kind of cynical propaganda. fear not, tho, it will be washed away by a tide of real reality. BO is the real deal.
I prefer the 'sheeple' spelling, Craig!
Mo, Without using those silly campaign speech catch phrase words like - "change, hope and progressive," in your answer, explain how BO is the real deal.
Piper, I'll fix that. Thanks.
well, i doubt i would convince you. so, i'm not gonna go to a lot of trouble.
but...
for one, if anyone saw all three (or is it 4?) speeches last night, i will point out that the only one who made any reference at all to the real world was barack. actually talked about the things that were being said and done on the campaign trail and in the media. and show them for the absolute stupidity that they are.
in meat space i have a little schtick, i'll try to translate- see, i really wanted barack (and /or anyone, really) to go to washington, and kick ass and take names. so i was disappointed in him at first. but i eventually realized that he is the kind of fighter that can stroke you ego, butter you up, put his arm around your shoulder, pat you on the head, and oh, so, fluidly, knock you in the back of your knees, and leave you in the dust.
i dunno. it's funny in person.
i just think the guy is a breath of fresh air. fat cats take him out to lunch and he won't let them pick up the check.
ok, here is one more. probably a lot of folks remember the whole cegelis races out in il 6. in '04 all the elected dems had been behind christine, and barack had been out there working harder than anyone, even though he was trying to get himself elected. (something that he continues to do tirelessly.) in '06, as she had promised, christine ran again. this time rahm emmanuel had his own candidate, told the locals to back down, which, sadly, they all did. barack was the only one of those people that had the decency to call her, apologize, and not make her read it in the paper.
i know precious few people with the decency to stab someone in the front.
and i think he is just wicked smart.
see, no hero worship. but i do think he is quite a different sort of animal.
I agree with been there, Ive met Barack and he is wicked smart. He is also a politician. He is closer to Daley than Mark Brown says, too, look at the nice job Michelle had working for Daley, do political independents get that kind of gig?
Oh wait, the original comment was about our Rogers Park, we need to see some shades of gray or rainbow colors or whatever. I don't see Mike James, Katie Hogan, Jim Hinderske or even Fagus or Wayne Frazier as idol-worshipers. OK, bad me, I confess, tofugirl doesn't like to see anyone hate on the Heartland :) (didn't Don hold a fundraiser there a year ago?) James-Hogan have been around the block (and now they own most of it hahaha) and they put causes first and personalites second (or maybe it's cornbread first). Isn't James old hippie SDS? He is probably way left of Moore and I bet they see 49th ward with pretty clear eyes. But JoMo is with them more than against them in what passes for lefty fights in the city council.
I think it's hysterical that James is Pres of the 49th Ward Dems, some oldtimers would be spinning. But every Chicago pol has to have a friendly saloonkeeper or two.
Ginderske looks like he has never stopped running for alderman for one second, he probably wears underwear that say GInderske 2011, his website still says Moore hasn't gone after corruption. Idol worship, me no think so, looks like a political calculation. Fagus, Frazier are operatives, but not groupees. Word out of the ward office is Moore really relies on their friendship and advice.
i think sheeple is a hoot but most of the list are not.
