* Where's Joe Moore?

Anyone seen Joe Moore lately? Seems the goof-ball has flown the coop since the EPA has moved in on his campaign contributing developer pals most recent tear-down project.
* 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore was nowhere in site, even though he should be going door to door apologizing to neighbors for helping to unleash this monster on Rogers Park. Source.

* Residents are questioning the lag time between the discovery of asbestos at the former North Shore School demolition site and the two weeks that it lay open and exposed to the elements in the Rogers Park lakefront neighborhood. Source.

* We believe that the alderman's office should have taken steps to notify residents, through an e-mail blast, door-to-door visits to nearby neighbors or even a makeshift sign posted on the site. Source.

Once again your pointing fingers and tossing BS at the wrong person/people. Contact the owner and contractor of this project Craig. You act as if the Alderman is the GC of all construction in his/her ward.

If this is all really the case regarding asbestos, I think it stupid and irresponsible not to take legal and proper care when doing a tear down.

On the other hand it is very easy to become alarmist and assume this will in the end really harm anybody. Does anybody on this blog actually know anybody who has been affected by it that did not work with asbestos for many years in construction?

It's really dumb to not know what your dealing with in doing a tear down. It's also dumb to scare people into believing things that really may not be true.

3 cheers to Patrick on his continued success!

Yeah, Craig's obsession with tagging every problem in RP on Joe Moore is borderline psychotic.

Quick, someone go walk their dog and don't pick up after it . . . or place a campaign sign on the parkway in front of your property . . . better yet, anyone have a dirt bike competition we can send him and his nephew to?

Craig needs something else to get all riled up about besides the 49th Ward alderman.

I disagree with the first two comments....

This story IS about Moore. It points to a conflict of interest.. the developer is a campaign contributor. Who is Moore looking out for ..our well being or the that of the donor?

And that conflict of interest is what exactly?

Thanks

There has been numerous tear downs and conversions in Rogers Park over the past several years. I lived in a property that I know had asbesto all over the place and when they renovated the property, the workers dumped everything right into the Developers dumpster so I know for a fact that asbesto is not a priority of the developer. Rogers Park has become a community whos landscape is filled with contractors dumpsters. Ther has been one parked in front of 7317 for over two months. They take up valuable parking spaces and become playgrounds for neighborhood kids. Humm, I wounder if it has asbesto in it.....

ever notice how every time some lowlife developer gets in a jam, you can jump online and find them in Moore's campaign disclosures?

what's up with that?

is it a coincidence?

why does Moore have such gosh darn bad luck picking developer pals?

why is it whenever a developer expresses a deep sympathy for Moore's brand of politics with their checkbook they eventually end up doing something really stoopid?

Hugh,

"why does Moore have such gosh darn bad luck picking developer pals?"

You have it all wrong Hugh. Developers pick the Alderman.

Get with it.

Craig's blog is the problem?

Craig did not sell a permit to release a carcinogen plume on our lakefront

no one ever died of blogging

blogging is not carcinogenic

pretty feeble attempt at diversion there

oh, I get it, pay-to-play is just something that happens to you when you're a Chicago alderman, goes with the territory, nothing to be done, it's out of your control

Charlie, there seems to be a conflict of interest between Joe's nominal constituents, the citizens of the 49th Ward; and his real constituents, his developer-and-slumlord contributors.

We write Joe's paycheck, but Joe's true overlords are the developers and landlords who contribute to his campaign coffers.

I would call that a conflict of interest.
