Operation Crooked Code: Seven City of Chicago employees arrested.
Robert Grant with the FBI and David Hoffman with Inspector General of the City of Chicago said the Chicago's Zoning and Buildings Department is corrupt. Systemic corruption.
The Tribune reports one of the defendants, William Wellhausen, has deep ties to the 36th Ward Democratic organization of 36th Ward Ald. William J.P. Banks, the powerful chairman of the City Council's Zoning Committee.
US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said the problem with bribery hasn't gone away and the investigation continues. Last year 8 City of Chicago employees were arrested for the same thing.
I, for one, am shocked to hear this news.

He's taken a few bucks in campaign contributions from some of these people and some of the developments are in his ward.
Oh man, what game is that card from? I have to play it. Seems like just the thing to take your mind off Chicago politics.
I was looking up a few things on the city's website and discovered that the Red Line Tap and the No Exit Cafe got caught for not having the proper licences, inspite of Moore making calls.
Also the joint that took over DJs Ranch looks pretty good.
Ald. Bernard Stone (50th), chairman of the City Council’s Buildings Committee, was disgusted to learn about the new wave of indictments in a Buildings Department that’s been a source of trouble for City Hall.
“I thought we had cleaned this all up, and now, all of the sudden, it’s starting again,” Stone said. “I thought we got rid of these bums."
I can't figure out why Stone would want to "rid of these bums."
He probably had veto power over their being hired in the first place!
Stone is so corrupt himself, he has no idea what petty corruption is, it's just way too far under his radar.
City Bldg. and Zoning Depts. under the Executive Branch,not the Legislative(city Council). "sock pupeteer" why you lying about Stone? I know he is a HONEST and Honorable man who serves community. You should restrict your comments to what you know-sock puppet shows.
