* Fight at Field School

2:58 PM: Let's get back to what makes Rogers Park so famous. Our crime. We've got a battery in progress at the Old Eugene Field School, 7019 North Ashland. No word how many kids are involved. FYI: Field School's mascot is a bulldog and the school colors are blue and white.

5:14 PM: Wanted for battery at 6907 North Clark. A male/black, standing 5 foot 9 inches tall. No weight given. He's 35 years old. He goes by the street name of "G-Flash"... "G" was last seen headed east on Farwell, towards Ashland.

5:38 PM: Battery in progress. Ashland and Jonquil. Male and female fighting in the street.

6:59 PM: Battery in progress. North Shore and Western. 15 kids fighting. Both males and females.

8:09 PM: Battery in progress. Armstrong School. 2110 West Greenleaf. 10 people fighting.

Well, yeah. Rogers Park kids "goon"
each other while at school---sort of a practice run for when they do the same to unsuspecting RP pedestrians during the summer months.

It's a shit school. When I lived in East Rogers Park (12 years ago )that would have been my son's school. Instead, I wrote the checks, and hiked my kid west to St. Margaret Mary. He's a junior at Northside Prep now and being courted by Ivy League schools. You get what you pay for. It was worth every penny and sacrifice. Sometimes you have to drive used cars and shop at Aldi. It builds character.

Fight at Field School break out because there is a lack of control. This usually is a result of the administrator in charge.
It is difficult to report but there are so many at Field, both students and staff that are sincerely committed to improving the lives and education of those they serve. It is difficult to do when there are revolving doors of kids moving in and out, gangs intimidating on a regular basis and
a lack of connection in the community
I remember over 15 years ago there was a principal who had such control on the place that it was a wonderful, fun place to actually visit. She instituted Community Banquet at the school along with a show that showed off the exceptional talent of those who attend. Watching the people flock in to the school, carrying food upon their heads, in baskets, in shopping bags, in little hands.....it was THE WORLD of ROGERS PARK. One of the things Rogers Park celebrates. Diversity!
That principal was pushed out by people in the community who didn't feel like they were getting what they wanted, not what the children needed. AS a result, the school has become disenfranchised and chaos has ruled since.

Don't forget Rogers Park is famous for being the "5th" bloggiest area in the nation........

We're famous for more than our crime

Fights break out at schools because of administrators and teachers who don't take a stand against violence in around schools, and who do not help protect students while they are on school property; a social service system that harps on kids' "rights" while penalizing parents for raising so much as an eyebrow towards their kids' bad behavior; parents who don't teach their kids the difference between defending themselves and being a bully (among other things).

Back when I went to school, the principal had the balls to go out with the gym teachers and break it up.

Now, even a grammar school kid is subject to a trip to the wagon and strip search by police everytime he makes an ignorant move.

If the CPS is too cheap to post a useful security guard, then go figure, CPD will be dispatched.
