* Joe Moore: Back in the News Again

Foie Gras Ban: City May Repeal 'Silliest Law Ever'
The ban was passed in April 2006 by a 48-1 vote. But Tunney noted Tuesday that there was no discussion of the measure on the council floor before the vote. The ban was passed in an "omnibus" vote at the end of a meeting, packaged together with other ordinances considered to be routine. Source

Back on 9/25/2006, Lorretta Swit said in a community email sent out by Joe Moore....> "Chicago restaurant chefs and patrons legally feasted on foie gras for the last time in August. As they celebrated the consumption of the flesh of a tortured animal, we watched and were horrified. Thankfully, due to the political bravery and hard work of our friend, Chicago Alderman Joe Moore, the ban on the sale of foie gras within the Chicago city limits is now in effect. But the ordinance and Joe Moore are under attack."

But in her own bio she takes credit.
Loretta played a key role in the effort to end the sale of foie gras in Chicago, giving an impassioned testimony at a hearing before Chicago’s City Council, which led to the overwhelming majority voting to ban the sale of foie gras in the city.
Blognotes: Well, Joe, you're back in the news again. Aren't you suppose to save these stunts for an election year? You claim it's your doing. Loretta now claims she did it. Alderman Tunney says you "Omnibussed" it through a vote the sneaky way. Which is it, Joe?

"There's really no reason to bring this up again," Joe Moore said.

Sure there is, Joe. Mayor Daley said so.

Joe Moore said...> "Restaurants continue to survive and thrive."

Just not in Rogers Park.

As the kids of Rogers Park are beating the living shit out of each other everyday of the week, Joe Moore thinks ducks come first.

Amazing. That loser politician continues to place greater emphasis on this than the violent crime that plagues his ward every day.

Unbelievable.

I agree with the comments after the Tribune article. Maybe we could ban Joe Moore.

Perhaps an organized 49th Ward "referendum" is in order.

The Moore vs. Tunney smackdown is in fact the animal rights lobby vs. the restaurant lobby. This is what passes for rigorous policy debate in our home town: craven aldermen competing for campaign funding from special interests.

You hit the nail right on the head, our boy joey has his eye on bigger things , joey hates his job as an aldermen.

This story from "The Bench"

Joe Moore is about to gear up for yet another election, this time for Congress in 2009.

Joe Moore would rather be a Congressman, but he'll have to be elected. Seems that discredited 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore would not simply be appointed to fill in a Schakowsky vacancy, as previously reported here.

So joey is just killing time until he can perphaps be a congressmen.
Can you see this jerk off in Washington?? If the people elected joey moore-on to congrss GOD help the USA!

Joe Moore was overhead saying in the city hall cham, bers he had a trick up his sleeve.

What is Joe, some sort of magician now?

This time, Moore will not prevail.

Wonder what took the council so long to repeal this idiocy. I guess they were too busy finding ways to seize citizens' properties, and more excuses for more TIF districts, to think about stuff like this.

I suppose he has to look like he's doing something. At least we know at least reading your blog Craig he's not paying attention to issues in his own backyard.

That's a very good question. Too many personal attacks, perhaps?
