Going to be a long summer methinks.

One thing i do love about chicago winters, not a lot of people hanging out causing trouble.

Craig, what bands do you use on your scanner? Maybe, I'm on at a different time. Do you ever get resolution w/r/t arrests? Do you ever tell whose window or car was stomped? One concern. When the walk was going on, it seemed likethere were some prank 911 calls. Is it possible that these are calls to distract police? Does CAPs ever consider the impact of these sorts of things or whether arrests should be made, if appropriate?

I lock on wave 460.375

I've been recording the radio chatter as to have a better way of catching the entire conversation, including codes and event numbers.

Yes, there are prank callers to distract the police.

As for CAPS. I've had it with CAPS. They've let me down too many times.

This was the final straw.

What does "slow-down" mean?

Craig Gernhardt said...

It means there are enough officers on the scene and for any other officers who are responding to slow down going to the scene.

There's also a "total disregard". That means no more officers needed at the scene.

That's it, but it covers the entire 24th. It seems like the Hell hole is becoming limited to scanner chatter. As stated in the past, my past experience with chatter was when they picked up injured and mutilated bodies on Route 41 before an overpass was built on a dangerous intersection.

We had about 4 to 10 deaths a year on average; I think one year it was higher. Negligence often takes more lives than intent. Frankly heat of passion distraction on the highway is more contagious.

How about a positive story that has nothing to do with Moore in the 49th.

Almost everything described above could be better categorized as "disorderly conduct" and "quality of life issue" rather than "crime." Most people view "crime" as being robbed or having their home broken into. The only way to prevent the above nuisances is to have police on every street corner or on foot/bike patrol, stopping every other pedestrian and interrogating them as to who they are and where they are going.

In short, stopping such social (rather than "crime") ills requires a police state in RP. And I'm sure the folks who bitch about these quality of life nuisances would be even more pissed about living in an environment like that.

What a fresh change from the ubiquitous male/black....

and they wonder why we have such low opinions.

billyjoe-

Really? Disorderly conduct for having a handgun in the street? So you should have no problem with a concealed carry law right?

What about indecent exposure in front of children? That's not a big deal either; not a crime?

I'll concede that the street fighting may be a nuisance but when your daughter is being stomped (battery not a quality of life issue) or your windows get broken because some dope got thrown through them(criminal damage to property not a nuisance), you have the right to call the police.

Yeah, the constant blaming of Joe Moore is annoying. The problems that didn't get taken care of during his first term were his fault. The blame for all subsequent problems rests squarely on the shoulders of those who continue to vote for him.

Maybe the only thing more foolish than living in RP is moving out of RP and then posting on a blog about the neighborhood and how dumb everyone is who still lives here. You've left. You've won. Move on.
