In past years I've video taped the entire wall for people to view. Very few people actually watched the videos to make it worth my while doing this project again. Instead of the video I'm giving you what I consider the best use of the 2008 theme in the form of "localized art-activism."
* While the two Obama designs were nice, they were all too predictable. But this one above - I like a lot. The square is a tribute of sorts to the recently torn down North Shore School. And a personal message to Joe Moore and the powers-that-be. This is my favorite square for the 2008 Artist of the Wall. Congratulations. To everyone else. Better luck next year.
* Sorry, the 'Broken Heart' design wasn't anything special either.
Blognotes: I overheard a couple of girls prepping their square and they mentioned how shitty the square was to paint. They were bitching about the poor white coating of paint that barely covered the last years artwork. They bitched about the paint chip cracks on the wall. They felt they got screwed.
According to Mary Bao, she thought most of the artist work was below par as compared to previous years. She didn't think the quality was there this year. View the last two years videos and then take a walk along the beach. You be the judge. You decide.

I too don't think that the pics along the wall are as inspiring as the two previous years. I don't know exactly why that is, but it does feel like something is missing.
I agree.
Thank you Craig for noticing and appreciating our work. I met so many people last weekend who were glad we were remembering the North Shore School. I wish the painting had won one of the prizes because I wanted to give my talented artist friend the recognition (and money) she deserved. We are grateful for your praise on this blog.
I'm shocked. A loyal reader wins "my favorite" award.
You're very welcome, SSEB.
Just to make sure I made the right pick (everyone can change their mind ya'know), I walked the wall slowly today - viewing all the artwork again.
You're still my winner. Hands down!
