* Chicago Journal a Rag? (Update)

That's what Katy Hogan of the Heartland Cafe/Radio (88.7 WLUW) thinks. Today on her radio program, Katy called the new Chicago Journal "a rag!" Which, in industry standards, is a derogatory term. Much like calling someone a Republican in Rogers Park.

Other highlights of the show included Joe Moore making an ass of himself. Again. Joe played the one trick pony act. He basically sited all those stats he sent in his plagiarized email blast yesterday. He sounded like the beginning of a CAPS meeting. 53% this - 41% that. Who can't be for those numbers?

He was also very confrontational with Eva McCann. Like a classroom bully.

In fact, Joe had to trot out the old politics of divisiveness and race-baiting (using words against his foes like "institutional poverty") he's so famous for. All the while trying to come off as 'holier than God' - trying to "save the children."

He even tried to put words in Eva's mouth. Eva would have none of it. Joe Moore was doing his classic best at creating a boogieman. The radio host, Katy Hogan, ate it up like breakfast.

Joe Moore was contradictory, manipulative and he lied on numerous occasions. At least he didn't mention the fraudulent 'Neighbors for a Healthy Rogers Park.' Only mentioning his little political prodigy, Jim Ginderske.

While Joe was being grilled on why the community wasn't involved from the beginning, he umm'd and ahh'd his way into saying in April 2008, it was only Jim Ginderske and himself meeting with the powers-that-be about the Boys and Girls Club.

Meaning: The community was not involved from the beginning. Just Jim and Joe working their smoke filled, back room deal.

Update: Interactive community communications at it's finest. Fargo Woman just added.. "I'm at a complete loss here. I just listened to the IN THE HEARTLAND broadcast with Eva, the rep from SEIU and, late as usual, Alderman Joe Moore. The SEIU rep roundly supported the Park Advisory Council and brought up the fact that the $100K offer to B&G from the Park Disctrict to take over the center is a breach of the open bid process. Eva, as always was articulate and concise. Joe made damning accusations, bullied Eva, tried to put words in her mouth regarding the Steans Foundation and then just out and out lied. OK. Nothing new there, really. Except maybe for the SEIU rep coming out so strongly in support of the Park Advisory Council. But no one, I mean NO ONE made Joe explain how giving Gale Park land to a private entity is different than giving Grant Park to the Children's Museum. I really wanted to hear him defend that. Am I missing something here? I mean, it is the same, isn't it? Please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong."

Great Job, Eva & Jasson!! Joe came off as dishonest (LIER) and with out ANY credibility on the issue. It's laughable how he attempted to frame this issue as political and anti-CBGC. Of course, this dishonesty and spin is what 'we've' come to expect from the Alderman!!

If Katy says the Chicago Journal is a rag, what does that make the Heartland? A roach coach?

Did anyone tape it?

To be fair being a Republican shouldn't be a bad word. lol

Was the "rag" comment just an off-hand slight or was there more context to it?

mcl said...

It was not an 'off hand slight'. It was a very mean spirited attack on the Chicago Journal/News Star and completely uncalled for. Shame on you Katy!

Get an issue - rag is used by writers all over, no big deal.

Like the Heartland radio program is a standard for journalistic integrity?

Please, she sucks up to Joey and attempts to discredit everyone who doesn't.

Is Katy's radio show free of advertising? Is Joe paying her for ads or is she paying Joe for favors?

So, Mcl (or anyone else) can you paraphrase what was said or do you have a recording? I am curious. I have never listened to this radio broadcast. Thanks.
