* Gale Community Center Protest Has Huge Turnout

Over 70 people attended today's protest/rally. Big media was there too. WGN and others had their big video cameras rolling. The Tribune had a reporter roaming the field. I've got some exclusive raw video from my puny blogger camera I'll post tomorrow. Here's a few photos I took today.

10 to 1 in favor my royal ass. Joe Moore flat out lied. Signs were everywhere denouncing the plan to put the Boys and Girls Club in the new Gale Community Center. "Say No to Joe" - and to the privatization takeover of the GCC by the BGCA was a common theme.

The cowardly Joe Moore had three people passing out the 'Neighbors for a Healthy Rogers Park', false information flyers on the fringes of the crowd, instead of coming face-to-face with the community. Here's one such girl holding the 49th ward democratic party, blue bag, with the fraudulent groups propaganda inside. Joe Moore is still touting this crock-pot group of loonies. And proving it's all about politics. 49th ward style. Yet, he doesn't have the balls and face the community himself. He uses some fool to do his dirty work.

Speaking of 49th ward style politics. When the angry crowd arrived at Joe Moore's office they were greeted by this message. Notice it's written on a ATM deposit slip. How appropriate. The crowd left something behind for Joe. And it sure wasn't a campaign contribution.

Here's a list of over 400 people that have signed the SOCC petition in the last two weeks. This list was taped to his office door. Someone promptly removed this long list of names once the rally was over and the people left. Maybe it was Ms. Bluebag. Other than political puppet Jim Ginderske, out of district Senator Steans and the campaign contributing Gregory's, Joe Moore hasn't come up with his many, many, many people yet.

The turnout for this event was great, but we're going to have to stay up on this, and we're going to have to get a lot angrier.

Moore has made it clear that he doesn't give a phuque what we think or what will serve the community as a whole.

70 angry sore losers do not run the ward. there was an election and your side lost. it's called democracy. get over it.
angry does not run things. positive people working together run things. pissed off only causes a giant crash. it just does not work. just plain does not work.
really, move on. this serves no purpose but to embarrass yourselves.

Sorry, but the fact that your AlderWeasel "won", does NOT give him the right to rule this ward as though he were king. He is supposed to be protecting the public interest, which is not served by select not-for-profits take ownership of public facilities.

He is just as answerable to his opponents as he is to his supporters, for after all, our taxes pay his bloated salary, too.

For you to argue that we should lie down for atrocious public policy and the hijacking of a public facility that many members of the local community worked years to get in place, against ongoing resistance and inaction by our AlderMoron, is like saying that since Bush won the presidential election, that my resistance to his disastrous policies and complete contempt for non-wealthy Americans makes me a "sore loser".

Are you quietly lying down for the Repugs' destruction of our constitution and horrendous public policies because they won?

Then why should RP citizens who oppose Moore's idiotic decisions lie down for the theft of a long-awaiting PUBLIC facility just because Moore won the election?

The fact is that Moore's attempt to privatize the Gale Community Center is blatantly anti-community, and he's managed to frame this as a "prochild/antichild" thing.

There is no reason why the Boys & Girls Club cannot be housed at Gale Academy, which is roomier, and whose principal has invited the organization in.

The Gale Community Center is a public park, for public use, and should be preserved as such.

Please keep in mind that I have nothing against the Boys and Girls Club, and to their credit, I will say furthermore that I'm very sure that they don't care whether they get the community center or Gale Acadamy. They will probably be happier in the roomier school building.

No, this controversy is NOT the creation of the Boys & Girls Club. It is so unnecessary that I have to believe that Moore is offering up the center strictly out of malice towards the NOH neighbors who struggled and fought for so long to get this center planned at built- a "NahNahNah" gesture to show these people that they aren't going to get SQUAT from JoMo.

It's time for AlderJackass Moore to learn that he is a public SERVANT, and he is here to serve all the public who pay his salary, not just his supporters and campaign contributors.

joey hasn't come up with names because he doesn't care & doesn't have to, why? Because next eletion time the voters will forget what happened and vote the dimwit, back in office!

Before you call me crazy, ask yourselves how many years has he been aldermen of the ward?

Mo Cahill - you're really good at name calling aren't you? Want to discuss angry sore losers? Please have coffee with Ginderske and his two best friends.

Seems Jim and his pals cornered the SEIU rep after the radio show yesterday. Last week it was Gindersek doing the rooster strut at another SEIU rep. Have they watched too many episodes of the Sopranos or what? The Grade B Movie of ward 49 politics.

And last but not least, there was your hero Joe on the radio, interrupting, being disingenuous, and as Eva told him 'don't put words in my mouth'. If you feel the above behaviors are appropriate and positive that's par for the course.

hey been there:

I guess no one should complain or protest about President Bush either.

Your side lost so stop being sore losers and accept the war and our economy. Let him drill for oil anywhere he wants. Let him send as many tropps overseas. Let him cut taxes and run a bigger federal defecit.

Bush won, so he can do whatever he wants. Shut up and accept it!

Kindly run along.

The pathetic part about the current 49th ward democratic machine and their message, Mo Cahill comes across as the most sane of the bunch.
