Is Bosworth and Pratt where the CHA building is? I know sometimes kids congregate there, stand in the street, and block traffic.

That store on Devon has only been there a few months. Too bad he had to be welcomed to the neighborhood in this way.

The strange part is this stuff is happening in broad daylight. I mean 3 p.m.? 7 p.m. WTF? Their boldness speaks volumes about the lack of challenge to their action.

I would like to thank the broken heart for giving me so many reasons to tell people why I'm moving away from Chicago after moving here less than a year ago. I'll keep checking the blog while I'm sipping a coconut full of rum on the beach this winter for all the crap that happens in my old neighborhood...

Someone painted graffiti on the side of Rogers Park Baptist Church. The custodian pointed it out to me when I got there (I'm the church secretary for the moment).

The church hadn't been hit with graffiti for years. A car parked nearby was also defaced, but none of the other cars on the block (including the pastor's car) appeared to have been bothered. An apartment building north of the church was also dirtied up with the same gang insignia.

From what the custodian and I gathered, there must be a beef going on between a couple of gangs. The gang signs were written upside down, which is regarded as an insult to the gang.

I called Graffiti Blasters. Pastor told me to call Moore's office as well, but fat chance of him or his staff doing much about it. I left a message there and received no response. We'd be better off waiting on the city workers to clean it off.

A staffer called the church today from Moore's office. I told him the address of the church, and explained the gang graffiti was on the side of the building. "What's the address of the side of the building," he asked me.

I explained that the building sits on the corner. "The city workers need to know an exact address. Sometimes, they'll come out and look at the side and not find anything," the guy told me. "Well, there is no address number for the church's side entrance door. Besides, they can't miss seeing the graffiti," I said. So what was he saying? That city workers would be too lazy to go around the side of a building? Come on. . .he needed to give them more credit than that.

The staff worker told me he'll send someone out, but most likely, I'll end up calling Graffiti Busters again myself next week.
