The 7000 block of North Clark Street was closed to traffic at 10 a.m. Sunday and all day Monday after a metal plate covering an excavation trench made by Boro's Plumbing shifted, causing chunks of pavement to break off into the trench.
Boro's Plumbing had a city permit to do a water tap for a new business at 7016 N. Clark. But the company was cited for not having metal plates large enough to cover the excavation hole, failing to fasten those plates correctly and neglecting to use a masonry saw to make a clean cut of the pavement and remove it. * Plumber Mishap Closes Clark Street
With no warning from our 49th ward dictators office regarding this situation, I felt it was my duty to expose his major weakness. The lack of communication with our community-at-large.

permits?
we don't need no stinkin permits
hugh,
the story says they had a permit. so what is the point of your remark?
Clark street continues to be a complete and utter mess. This 'mishap' along with the work being done (for about a month)at Clark and Pratt have made the "Mexican Raceway" even more dangerous for pedestrians to cross than usual, even with traffic being backed up for blocks during rush hour.
We need a pedestrian prompted traffic light / cross walk at the library corner of Farwell and Clark, or at least a yellow blinker. I've been told by Joe's office on more than one occasion that it's under review. I don't believe them.
It's two months this sewer work has been ongoing at Pratt & Clark.
What the hell kind of sewer work takes two months?
And now we're getting yet another traffic light at North Shore & Clark to screw up traffic.
Has anybody noticed the one-way sign at the SE corner of Clark and Farwell? Somebody turned it so that instead of directing traffic correctly, which would be east on Farwell, it now directs them one-way on Clark. It has been like this for 6 months. Fortunately, I know the neighborhood. I wonder if that could be corrected before the kiddies start walking to school on September 2nd?
