Fireworks not gunfire

Narcotics dispersal 1500 West Howard. Dispersing two.
12:28 a.m., multiple gun shots again, Bosworth/Jonquil Terrace area. When is the alderman going to address this situation? What are the police doing?
Charlie, a police office said the same thing a couple of weeks ago.
Shot at Pottawottomie. From the Chicago Journal.
Police arrested a juvenile and are looking for another 19-year-old man who chased and shot at a group of teens playing basketball in Pottawattomie Park at 7340 N. Rogers. The three male victims, ages 16 and 17, said they were shooting hoops around 8:15 p.m. July 22, when they were approached by the two youths. The 16-year-old juvenile who was wearing an orange reflective vest, brandished a revolver and handed it to the 19-year-old, saying, "Let's pop these guys." The older youth pointed the gun at the victims and fired two rounds. The victims fled the scene as the youths chased them. As the victims approached the corner of Birchwood and Clark, they ran into a parking lot on the 1700 block of West Howard, where the youths fired two more rounds at them. Both fled the scene. Police apprehended the 16-year-old boy moments later, and he was positively identified by one of the victims. He was charged with aggravated assault as a juvenile. The victims told police they know the youths from the neighborhood and have an ongoing conflict with them.
For the official 911 dispatch record. At 8:17 PM officer #2405 thought it was fire-works. She was inside the field house at Pottawatomie Park. That was the first batch of calls for shots fired at 7318 North Wolcott. She was wrong. It was shots fired.
Besides, fireworks are ILLEGAL too. Why isn't Sergeant Baranowski writing violations? Fireworks can put people in grave danger too.
Craig,
I will be the first to admit that RP has long had it's problems with firearms. It seems to be rather cyclical and right now seems a bad cycle. Hey, it's a bad cycle for just about everything these days.
The truth is what people heard last night at Sherwin and the lake was fireworks.
I live here and I certainly know the difference.
The "shots fired" on Chase were fireworks.
Because you make yourself a much easier target Craig, lol.
Here's good news boys and girls. It looks as though the CAPS fiasco is finally dead. Effective yesterday, the only people that will be allowed to attend CAPS related events INCLUDING beat meetings are on duty Officers. That means no more returning to the district to attend a silly beat meeting if you're on days, no more getting up to attend a silly beat meeting if you're on midnites. The only Officers you will see will be the ones working afternoons. It will only take the citizens awhile to realize that despite the intentions of the CAPS program, you will more than likely never see the same Officer at every beat meeting. That is because we are understaffed and they are playing the old shell game with manning the cars. In other words they will put you on whatever car they need you on. So for instance, the Officer that is assigned to say, beat 2424 may actually only work that car a small portion of the time. That means he can't really devote much attention to the problems voiced by the citizens of a particular beat.I think CAPS may be on it's last leg. There is a God after all. Hip,Hip Hooray!
I heard about this Big Daddy. This is indeed very good news.
CAPS is broken as long as you let politics run the show.
Cabrini Green taught us that a concentration of subsidized housing is not healthy. Now we have too much of it up here.
Big Daddy, does that leave only 911 as our avenue of communication with the officers of our area?
New to RP...I heard the noise on Estes at approx 9:30pm...how do you tell the difference b/t gun fire and fireworks??
Bosworth-
No, I'm hearing that there will still be the usual CAPS Beat Community Meeting. It will be attended however by only the afternoon Officers. You will not see the day or midnite Officers. To me that indicates that the CAPS program is near the end. It was a do nothing, accomplish nothing program that only served to placate the citizens much as the pilgrims did with giving trinkets to the Indians, employ the otherwise unemployable and to give those Officers that are afraid to work the streets a place to hide. I will add however that the two Officers from 024 who I met a few years ago have "paid their dues" and deserve the spot they have which was the afternoon spot in which they attended the beat meetings representing the CAPS office. I don't know their names but they were two older gentlemen. I don't know if they are still there.
Coen and Jacobs.
Hey Charlie,
After 15 great years I had to put Chase down on Saturday 2 weeks ago.
Chase stopped at least 2 armed robberies, one on Sherwin in 1999 and another on Devon in 1997.
Funny how some people can be scared of a Golden retriever.
Hope all is well and look for Chase 2 in the fall.
Hey Progun,
I think I know who you are. Chase was a beautiful dog. I remember you as a guy who used to play ultimate frisbee and come into Hamilton's. Did you live on Morse and date my girlfriend Joanie?

RIP Chase
An absolutely wonderful dog who had a great life!
Catch ya PG
