This what happens when people give out boxes of raisins to trick or treaters.
This should be an interesting evening.
Let's all hope for the best.
Happy Halloween.
Boo
Hope the cops were interested in catching the paintball shooters.
A few weeks ago one cop was hit in the leg from a paintball shooter hanging out of a Northpoint building on Ashland.
But at the CAPS meeting no one from Northpoint or their security knew anything about it....and NP tenants weren't talking.
And Joe gets publicity for his "ban the eggs" effort. Unfortunately, it was just another waste of time by our stupid fucking alderman.
Given the egg war zone in Rogers Park last night, let's just say his efforts were every bit as effective as the great foie gras ban.
I just don't know what this idiot does with his time all day or how he could possibly make less of an impact.
paintballs and eggs, at commuters who were probably coming home from a day at work, in their nice work clothes. i know paintballs sting like hell when you get hit by them also.
i blame the parents for not beating their kids.
Such nice kiddies. There were scanner reports of pellet guns being used also.
And I never covered the chaos around Devon. It was nutty there last night too.
Not to mention a couple of emails I got about 'shots fired' after midnight around Estes and Ashland. Also 'shots fired' at Pratt and Wayne. This is not verified or bona fide by the police. Or the guy who had his toe cut off on Jonquil. Or the driver who got held up on Ashland. Or the dozens and dozens of domestic disputes.
Yeah, Joe had everything under control with his egg ban.
It's not like Joe -or his office- had anything to do with the anti-egg selling efforts, as far as I know. Just another "look at what I have done", that he had NOTHING to do with. He and his folks had been far more interested in early voting issues.... As if the Dems or Obama are not going to sweep the vote here in Crook County.
The flyers (we dont sell eggs to minors), the neighborhood patrols, and the media coverage were organized by the Network 2424, and Brummel Park folks.
The area between Clark and Ridge on Howard was the area of focus for those groups, and their efforts were very successful, IMHO.
The "don't sell eggs to minor" program was in Police Beat 2424 ONLY. It was our project. Joe Moore was supportive of it, but it was NOT a 49th ward project.
Our patrols on Halloween were successful; the problem teens left here and went to other police beats were people aren't "debbie downers" and think egg throwing is "no big deal, just good fun."
Want to change your neighborhood, become a community organizer. Craig will label you a "debbie downer," but at least you won't be living in a hellhole.
Ridge and Clark is near Senn H.S. which is within a block of the death of the future firefighter and the car Arguably Edgewater, but rather close to Andersonville, as well. Also, near the new intersection cameras and White Castle. Worked at home, so I never got to see the paintballers at Howard, but I usually don't see much action at Howard Terminal anyway. I just past my 10th anniversary using the place. Bummer at that; can't even call 911. Must admit that I did see an egg carton at 7333 W. Ridge, but no damage.
