Trash Talk Leads to Shooting in the 49th Ward
A 28-year-old man was shot at by three men while sitting in his car on the 1600 block of W. Juneway. The victim said that the men, two in their early 20s and another in his early 30s, approached his car around 3:15 a.m. Oct. 25. Two of the men covered the front and driver's side doors, while the other stood in front of the car. One of them asked, "Why you talking s---?" The men at the doors pulled out guns and the victim hit the gas, striking the third man standing in front of the car and hurling him on to the car hood. The two other men fired shots into the car and through the windshield. The victim struck several cars trying to get away. The man on the hood fell off and kept firing until the victim's car came to a rest. The victim was able to get out the car and flee unharmed. While finishing the accident report, police heard the victim's cellphone ring and answered it. Police talked to the victim's friend, and both came back to claim the car when police were still at the scene. About five shots were fired. Source.

Shots fired Tuesday night at Jonquil Terrace and Ashland. Shots fired Wednesday night at Jonquil Terrace and Bosworth.
The message of change hasn't made it North of Howard yet. Perhaps we need Joe to paper the neighborhood with some of his flyers to let the thugs up here know.

Perhaps Joe should send out the 49th ward 'Green Corps' storm troopers?
Or, the very least, Joe could send out an email blast letting us know crime is down.
We haven't gotten one of those from him in all of 2008.
7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, 4 young men drinking alcohol at the corner of Howard and Bosworth. All 4 yelling to cars and pedestrians that the GD own and run this area, and anyone else better watch out. Wonder if these young men know anything about the 3shootings in the area in the last 10 days?
With all the racist trash talk here, every smart mouthed bashful blogger hiding behind a bullet proof screen would have been capped by now!
...oh and I forgot since Tuesday it's all Obama's fault. The logic is baffling.
How about some of you print your comments, take them to Howard street, look a human being in the eye and read it to them. If you're frightened by that idea, think about what you write.
I am confused, How is a seemingly random shooting, allegedly prefaced by "trash Talk' my or O'bama's fault.
I would love to "print your comments, take them to Howard street, look a human being in the eye and read it to them." or to look those criminals in the eyes and ask them why they are hoods. But alas I am taking care of my family and working two jobs so I have little time or the desire to get shot for Trash Talking.
The fact is, crime is down, but not enough. I see drug dealers and prostitutes each nigh I drive home form my job. I know they are drug dealers and prostitutes because I have to circle for parking and I see what goes on, many times they confuse me for a customer.
We need a stronger police presence NOH, especially after midnight.
"North of Rogers" because you have a family, take 30 seconds to make a call from your cell phone when you observe the activity. I have done this and in-spite the opinion of the commentary on this blog, the police will show and with a little persistence the behavior will change... with time, granted.
The individuals who make racist posts know who they are, and they are the individuals I am speaking to. Craig is screening comments now, it think that says something about trying to maintain the integrity of his blog.
