As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois' next U.S. senator, businessmen with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich's campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job, the Tribune has learned.
Blagojevich made an appearance at an Oct. 31 luncheon meeting at the India House restaurant in Schaumburg sponsored by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak, a major Blagojevich supporter who also has fundraising and business ties to the Jackson family, according to several attendees and public records. ...

Call me naive but I do not understand why people give all this $$$$ to any politician!
I can see a donation of maybe $25 -
$100 for someone I might think has a good platform or speaks for something I strongly believe in but I work hard as a teacher and no matter how you play it teacher's just dont make the kind of money that allows one to give away that kind of support!
Aren't politicians required to report donations and what they do with them. Can you believe I have lived in Chicago forever and I am just beginning to figure 'it' out!

Agreed. When I'm on the fence deciding who to vote for, I prefer to go with the one who has received the LEAST campaign contributions, assuming that candidate must has sold his soul to fewer powers. As voters, we need to demand more open debate for any elected position--so we can vote based on the issues and character of our leaders--and ignore the propaganda produced from campaign contributions.

Locally, there is no Fitzpatrick monitoring Joe Moore. Joe is as brazen as the school kids who brawl daily...he knows there is no accountability.
It is up to us.
That's because those that are charged with investigating people like Blago are part of the same evil cabal that has produced people like him. Where was the Cook County States Attorney or the Illinois Attorney Generals Office? They could have conducted this investigation if they were legit and wanted to. They could investigate alderman or other corrupt city,state and county officials.As a matter of fact, this SHOULD have been a local investigation.But they are all part of this "Machine" that is destroying this once great city.
The reason why the Feds haven't gone after Joe is because he's a small time grafter. They can't get him to get to the bigger fish because he has no ties to them. So they ignore him so they can go after the big kahunas: Ryan, Rezko, Blago and -- hopefully soon -- Little Richie. That's why we'll continue to be stuck with him until the apathetic voters in the 49th ward see fit to kick his sorry ass out.

The question is what did Moore do for teh Surgicenter, if anything. Was it substantial, or not? Also, would he have arguably done it, anyway.
Some people pay and think that they are playing. However, they may be playing with themselves! Mental masturb*ti*n goes a long way for campaign contributors looking for a handout.
Watching Moore and what he does for those who have not given much is worth review. That may demonstrate whether reasonable needs are actually being filled for the legitimate and rational requests by Ward Residents.

I would permit this surgical center to operate whether I got a contribution or not. It fits the land use, and it's performing a legal, necessary service.
Joe simply doesn't let anybody do biz in this ward without a contribution, or at least so it appears.
