Mister Brokenheart Scoops Chicago Journal

My 12/3/08-2:20 PM post made the Chicago Journal Police Blotter!
Bank robber gets redundant
A man in his 20s wearing a tan Yankees cap and red sweat pants robbed the Chase Bank at 7015 N. Western. A bank employee told police that the robber entered the bank at 2:12 p.m. Dec. 3. The man walked up to the teller window and said, "Read the note. I have a gun, empty your cash box." He handed the employee the note, which repeated the man's demands. The employee handed over an unknown amount of cash. The man fled the bank in an unknown direction, leaving his note behind on the counter.

Lunt home invasion
Two men in their late 30s invaded an apartment on the 2700 block of W. Lunt. The family said they heard a knock on the back door around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 4. When a family member answered the door, the men ordered all of the family members to get down on the floor. The men displayed a blue steel revolver and asked how many people were at home. The two fled the apartment and warned the family not to follow them, firing one shot into the air. The men fled eastbound through an alley. The report didn't specify if anything was stolen.

I just got off of the phone with a good friend and neighbor who was mugged by some punk teenagers on Glenwood and Farwell, Wednesday at 12:30 in the afternoon. One of them came out of virtually nowhere and hit him in the head knocking him to the ground. Then another kicked him while he was down.
My friend got to his feet and was running North toward the Barber shop (where he knew there were people) when he saw a cop car and flagged them down.
The cop went after the punks and caught them. He was later informed that the cops know these kids (14-16 yrs. old) well. They are currently suspended from school. The end of the story, they were let go! My friend is now fearful to freely walk the street of Rogers Park, partly in fear of retaliation. I've insisted he call Joe (less is) Moore and attend the next CAPS meeting, which is not until January, because of the Holidays. Crime does take a break for the Holidays!

CAPS is a worthless program run by a bunch of uninformed political toads.

I urge residents to avoid the time-wasting CAPS meeting.

Example: CAPS BEAT 2431 FACILITATOR, Jayne Hoffman, urges residents to recycle. According to her, this reduces crime.

You have to be kidding me. Please explain (if you can) how recycling reduces crime. I do however, agree with the rest of your post. And so do the rest of us. Except those that work in the program. It allows them to hide from bad guys. This does not apply however to the two older Officers that work in the CAPS Office on afternoons. They have paid their dues.
