Gang Graffiti STILL Goes Unnoticed @ Alderman's Office
{bumped} First posted Feb. 27, 2009. This gang marking in the photograph below is still there. This is a problem. Either Joe Moore doesn't care his office is contributing to the blight of the neighborhood or he approves of this gang turf marking in front of his office.

Governing 101 says to nip gang graffitti in the bud, before it escalates. Come on Joe, focus on your ward, not the bedbugs bigbox and other citywide distractions.
I'm just thankful we no longer need fear the evil threat of foie gras.
I agree tea party. This (SGD mark)is a good sign of things to come. SGD's have never been that far north and maybe that one transfer from the westside wants to mark and new territory and even recruit. Hurry Mr. Joe before you have another problem on your hands.
At the 2422 February CAPS meeting we were told one of the reasons for the extra police presence in the Howard area was due to the increase in gang activity. This extra presence will hopefully stop the problem before it gets bigger and out of hand, especially with the warm weather months ahead of us.
Maybe if the Alderman or a representative from his office would attend the CAPS meetings regularly like some of the residents of this neighborhood, they would know that also. They could help us stop the problems before they get bigger.
It's pretty sad when your alderman tells a news reporter one thing about how bad graffiti is, then gets caught with gang graffiti steps from his office door.
There's been a fresh "bloom" of graffiti around the construction project at the intersection of Rogers & Damen. I think the taggers have figured out that while the street is closed, a squad car can't chase them.
If you add "Foie Gras 4Ever" to the pole, I'm sure Little Joey will make sure the grafitti removal crew gets there.
And then all they remove is the "Foie Gras 4Ever"!
what can we do about this growth in graffiti? Call/email alderman's office daily? call 311 daily? what else?
Perhaps our neighborhood needs an epidemic of anti-Joe graffiti. Bet that gets things cleaned up.
That area at Damen and Rogers has been torn up entirely too long. It is hurting the business at Rogers Park Pantry.
well, maybe Joe hasn't been to his office and so he hasn't noticed the graffiti.
I assume someone has called 311 on this?
I believe in taking direct action. I would be happy to take my can of silver spray paint over there and cover it up. However, if I do that I am breaking the law. It would be good to have some sort of "Good Samaritan" law so that people could take action.
Around my own area I DO take direct action.
I guess I don't believe in laws blocking common sense, at least when I am more directly affected.
PS. Anybody have any white paint?
If anybody lives near Sheridan and Morse, the white painted rocks at that intersection have been tagged, and could use a coat of paint.
I walk all over and the tags are out of control. I noticed them on the mailboxes, paper boxes, etc.
