Money Can't Buy Love on Morse Avenue (Update)

The sign says.....

It's unclear at this moment what's going to happen to all those crazy-in-love Valentine's Day celebrators who've chosen to spend the evening romancing the stone at the Morse Theatre and Century Pub tonight. It was closed last night. One loyal reader, Mark Fletcher, writes in with this report...
"We hired a taxi up to Morse tonight, first to go to the Morse Theatre. Was surprised and saddened to see that it was closed. Ended up in Dukes instead. There was a live act, well so much as a bunch of guys tuning their guitars....."
On a day where getting together, spending a bunch of money and making whoopie is the norm -- the investors of the Morse Entertainment Ventures are infighting. How ironic. With Valentine's Day basically being a economic engine for the entertainment industry -- and all, $6 million dollars can't buy love for one business on Morse Avenue.

Looks like people will have to make their reservations at Morse Gyros across the street instead. Then they can stroll over to Duke's, to listen to musicians tune up their guitars. Now that's romance, Rogers Park style. Right, Mark Fletcher?

Update - 2:20 PM: Lovers looking for something to do tonight may be in luck. I just got a phone call from a reader who spotted Devin McGhee in front of the Morse Theatre, in a white shirt and black beret, smoking a cigarette.

Update - 6:20 PM: The doors are open. Devin McGhee is seating customers. Food and drinks are being served.

I'm sure DevCorp North will step up to save the day. Or maybe Joe Moore himself. You know, the man who has brought so many viable new businesses to the 49th Ward.

Not only is it very sad that they are closed, it's simply incredibly stupid not to take advantage of weekend revenue, not to mention Valentine's Day weekend. And how about the bands booked who most likely passed up other gigs, cancelled with little or no notice? And the staff without jobs, what about them? All very sad.

I emailed Devin earlier in the week about the valentine's dinner. He and I responded back and forth once or twice, but when I actually tried to RSVP, I never heard back. Makes sense...

So is it open or not? Anymoe info on this? I am planning my first visit for Carnival celebration next week.

One thing I did have a hard time with, was getting email replies to simple questions about shows/ticket info.

I sent several emails after they opened asking questions about restaurant and theatre - never received one email response. So, what is going on with this place? Why would they invest all this money and walk away?
