School Evacuation on Sheridan

12:30 PM: Something is happening at McCutcheon Elementary School, 4865 North Sheridan Ave. Fire Department has arrived. They're wearing protective gear. Police have been told not to enter the building. Children are being evacuated to the Boys and Girls Club. Dispatch is listing this as a Plan 1.

12:45 PM: Traffic is being diverted away from Sheridan, from the 4800 block north to the 5100 block. All side streets are being blocked off. CTA is being told to reroute.

12:55 PM: Fire has given the police the okay to go in the building. 2024 is going in the school to start the paper.

12:57 PM: Whatever this was, it's now given the all clear. Student head count is underway, and they'll be allowing the kids back in the school after that's taken care of.

1:00 PM: Chicago Tribune reports a gas leak.

1:14 PM: Sheridan Road is being opened up. Shouts-outs go out to all the officers and firemen. Parents are worried, but the kids are safe.

Just heard it is being identified as a carbon monoxide issue.
