"You get to scratching and scratching. I almost dug a hole in my arm, that's how bad they were," said Tousant, a 41-year-old city worker who lives in Rogers Park...."For all those who have sent me the link to today's bed-bug story, just wanted to let you all know, I already covered the subject last year. Joe Moore did nothing then -- and I expect nothing less from him this time around.
""It's not at epidemic proportions, but it could be. It certainly is moving in that direction, and that's why the city has to move proactively," said Joe Moore, whose ward has been called a hotbed for the infestation. "We don't want to let this get out of hand."

===Nobody knows this Joe Moore guy in the bug business. As for as Chicago telling the landlord that the landlord is liable for mitigation of bed bugs...they're full of Oscar Meyer (B O L O G N A)===
That about sums it up.
Joe Moore should take his message to Michael James TV.
Are bedbugs Joe Moore's new foie gras?
I dare anyone to top that. Timmy earns quote of the day.
Timmy?
My bad. Send the award south to Edgewater. Sorry, Edgewater. The end "crime-blotter" name confused me.
Edgewater CB, something's happening in the 5000 block of North Sheridan. Fire Dept. is arriving, and they're using protective gear. Street closed.
Just giving you a hard time, Craig. I don't have my scanner with me so unfortunately I can't listen in to what might be happening....
Joe knows how to keep his name in the papers. The window company who's workers he was supporting has been bought by another company.
Joe needs a new cause so that he might receive positive attention. He is incapable of actually earning positive attention by accomplishing things in his ward.
Crime is Down,
Bedbugs are biting,
Blame Joe
Vote No Moore

I wish, Craig. LOL :-). Nice to see you were thinking of me (perhaps), LOL.
First the NY Times writes a bedbug story, then the Trib copies them with a local angle.
You'd almost think the bedbugs hired a flack!
Nope. Bedbugs are a real issue in RP. Numerous buildings are infested with them and they spread throughout units in a building and hitch hike their way through the community. How would you like to move into an apartment and discover it's infested with....vermin. Vermin that will bite you all over your body. You're going to go to the doctor to check out the bites and you are going to need cream to treat them and it's going to be pretty clear to you right away who's responsibility it is when an apartment building is infested. You're going to be pretty bothered if someone tells you to treat your own little corner of the infestation and they keep coming into your apartment from the building. Should you treat the basement and the laundry room and the hallways too, if you don't like it?
Sleep tight then.
Fortunately, most landlords realize their responsibility to mitigate these infestations, for the ones that don't, we have a new champion, Craig.
Bed Bugs - Bed Bugs - Bed Bugs. I have lived in the same building for over five years and it is a clean, beautiful building with a property manager who cares. The property has only had one vacancy during the five years that I have live here but a new family moved into the vacant unit and within a few days after their move-in, the landlord received his first call regarding bed bugs in their unit.I know for a fact the person who lived in the unit before them didn't have bed-bugs before they moved in. They finally admitted that they had moved from their previous apartment because they had bugs and now they had moved them into the new apartment in my building. The landlord immediately contacted the exterminator and met with the new tenants to assure they took the proper steps to end the problem. It has been two weeks and no new problems have been reported in my building. Landlords do not infest their properties with bed-bugs, people bring them into the building and the same people MUST take the proper steps to rid their homes of them. A good landlord such as mine took immediate action and he was sicken when he received the call. He works very hard to assure his property is clean and well maintained. Please don't place all the blame on the landlord, they can not forsee what a new tenant moves-in. Bed bugs are found in Luxury Hotels and homes. They have to be transported on to and into a property. Landlords MUST take immediate action but the resident MUST also take action.
How many people felt like itching themselves last night after reading this story?
That is unbelievably creepy! Thank God you had a good landlord that took care of it right away. Does Joe ever take actual responsibility for anything getting done?? I have never seen anyone that passes the buck so much - lucky he's not in the corporate world where your actual accomplishments are counted.
After a few weeks, will Joe Moore report that bedbugs are down in Rogers Park?
Sorry, had to put that one out there.
