Writer Gives Rogers Park a Bad Name?

Jungle? Golden Ghetto?
"Rogers Park and West Ridge, in Chicago’s northeast corner, contain many smaller neighborhoods within their boundaries—from the Patch in the southeast to the Jungle north of Howard to North Town and the Golden Ghetto in West Ridge."

Wow. Bill Savage went savage in the first paragraph with his Rogers Park description. When I write like this, the race-baiters come out of the woodwork. Wonder if Joe Moore or one of his loyalists will let the Reader know how they feel about the neighbood being called these names?

The 'jungle' has nothing to do with race. This area was known as 'th jungle' as far back as I first hugn on Howard Street walking solo to the Orthodontist with my best friend! This was in 5th grade and I graduated from Gale School in 1966! We all had newspaper routes and we called it 'the jungle' because when we rang doorbells with our Christmas Calendars - a way of seeking tips, the people would come to the door barely knowing they had the paper delivered!
the name 'jungle' is so old - believe me it has or had NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GROW UP!!!!!!!

Thank you!

Bill Savage focuses too much on the Loyola section of the neighborhood and totally misses the positive things happening elsewhere. It's a rather myopic view.
