2:10 PM: Lake Shore Drive is being shut down due to an accident near Foster. About 5300 North. The car flipped over and is a hunk of junk in the middle of Lake Shore Drive. No word on any injuries at the moment.
2:23 PM: Traffic is backed up. Police are looking to block off LSD all the way back to Montrose.
2:26 PM: Driver and passenger are heading to Illinois Masonic.
2:29 PM: Traffic is now being let thru. LSD is open.
3:04 PM: Driver is being cited for damaging city property. Including hitting and damaging a tree. Wonder what that's going to cost?

Another instance of 'Happy St. Pat's'?
Car versus fire hydrant on a call now... who won?
Passed accident site shortly after it occurred. Car is black and had numbers painted on the side as if it was used for racing of some sort. Hopefully it was a single car accident and no one else injured.
"Driver is being cited for damaging city property. Including hitting and damaging a tree. Wonder what that's going to cost?"
O.K., so if he's going to be cited for damaging the tree with his car how come none of the kids (or their parents) ever get cited for destroying the trees in the parks with their bare hands?
Just wondering . . .
- PEACE -
Because he was an easy target laying in a hospital bed.
The car did not flip.
He happened to pass me about 1 before all this happened and we had nodded at one another. I could also see the female passenger. More info on what happened to them would be nice...

Go tell it to the police. This is how they dispatched the crash call to be towed, order. It's on the 911 transcripts. If you want to FIOA them.
The girl was my ex with her bf. The car flipped 3-4 times. They're both alright, but banged up.
They hit a crater of a pothole, which I almost crashed attempting to avoid later on that day. The fact that the city is citing them for damage is absolute BS. The car was a Porsche GT3, that the city should be paying for considering the size of that crater.
Here's a thread on the incident: http://www.euroteknik.com/forum/general-car-discussion/37499-lakeshore-crater-claims-gt3-carefull.html
I'd think you'd learn LSD is full of pot-holes and not suitable for your sport. You car racers are a seriously demented as us off-road racers. Find a race track, though. I was at Twin Ring/Motegi, Japan last year. You guys would love it.
I was driving in the lane just to the right of that car. It zoomed past me (doing excess of 70mph) in tandem with another car that blew past me to the right (they appeared to be racing each other). Then the one in the left lane lost control and flew into the median. It flipped end over end 3-4 times. Sticks, chunks of dirt, and little pieces of the car sprayed all over my windshield. I hope those people were ok and that they learn to drive less recklessly. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen.
wow - how crazy! I would have had to pull to the side of the road and take a deep breath! Now I'm certainly not a slow driver but some people drive like they are on the speedway on LSD. I don't mess with them and move right over to let them go by.
