1:01 PM: Police are really hunting for two of these crooks around Morse and Pratt. They've locked them up a lot of times. They're known neighborhood thugs. And they're just teenagers.
3:03 PM: Parent calls police and says 14 year old son is out-of-control. He's a Sullivan student who was getting high all day on chronic.
Update: The commander informs me the 12:40 PM was a theft not a robbery. I was just going by what dispatch said, commander. Full statement in comments section.

I just nabbed a couple photos of the alleged thugs and their get-away vehicle. Police have them in custody.
I'm sure they're great kids who are just "mixed up with the wrong crowd," and are "trying to turn their lives around."

Great to hear. Not too many of these too-prevelant street crimes are followed up with "Police have them in custody". Anyone arrested in the Nu Nu killing? The shootout on Howard the other night? The assorted vandalism that occurs on Howard almost every night. Hell, I'll settle for the guy who broke the solar powered garbage can...

Nah, I'm sure these are kids who are suffering because of the lack of jobs and are at their wit's end, as most teenagers who have barely had time to experience what the job market is all about are want to do.
How they can afford a gun and a car, though, has me puzzled...
From what I gather, it was mom's car.
The police were bound and determined to catch these guys. It was a good hunt. I just emailed the area chief and commander for confirmation before I post their pictures.
We had an incident around noon today that sounds like the 3:03pm incident, except the kid was older and he belongs to the program I'm in. He was really acting up. He was talking crazy to us and getting violent. When another teacher of ours attempted to take him back to our classroom, he was so out of control that teacher asked for security assistance to take him out of the lunchroom.
He's a really good kid besides when he gets upset once in a while. And if anybody wants to know, he's not being arrested or anything because of his Autism and he didn't really know what he was doing. I guess it was a bad day for him. I'm glad he calmed down and he apologized afterwards.

Sir, two of the offenders in this incident are in custody. The attached picture depicts a juvenile and someone who has no connection to the incident. Additionally, the case you refer to was a theft not a robbery. Finally, we arrested 4 adult subjects Wednesday night who have all been charged with armed robbery. They are responsible for multiple armed robberies on and around Howard Street. We continue to make progress.
PS: enjoy tonight's play at Sullivan.
