No One Got Shot in Rogers Park Last Night

For crying out loud, fellow bloggers and forum users of Rogers Park. Hold on to your gossip and rumors until you get the cold hard facts. No one got shot last night in Rogers Park.
"A man was hospitalized in serious condition Saturday night after being found bleeding profusely inside a CTA station in the North Side's Rogers Park neighborhood. Police late Saturday said the 44-year-old man appeared to have suffered from a medical condition.

Police were called to the Red Line Howard stop about 7:30 p.m. after a man was found bleeding inside the station, according to a Rogers Park District lieutenant, who said police were initially unclear what type of wounds the man suffered."

Note to Bernard Garbo. You don't do the neighborhood any favors by proclaiming this was a shooting, just because a media spokesperson did. We've already got enough bona fide "shots fired" calls without you making up some wild story to feed your imagination. If you want to find out if there was a shooting, call or email the commander. Don't rely on the Tribune, unless they're stealing copy from me.

Stick to your ineffective Kumbaya walks - and leave the gossip and imaginary news for the Urban Coaster.

Channel 2 News at 10 reported it as a shooting. The Big Dudes often get the initial reporting done erroneously too.

I heart the R.P. said...

Speaking of The Urban Coaster, have you wondered where they got the idea of "Life in the 5th Grade"? It sound like a rip of of "Tuesday's with Timmy" to me.

The Coaster folks also dug deep in originality with their "Legally Speaking" column header. They mimic the best.

Craig Gernhardt said...

They should've titled the legal column, the "Ambulance Chasers" or the "Storefront Lawyers" - that would've been more accurate.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Q: What do you call a lawyer who doesn't chase ambulances?

A: Retired.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Q: What can a goose do, a duck can't, and a lawyer should?

A: Stick his bill up his rump.

Yeah! Craig is the only one with the facts. Everyone else is either biased or making things up. Craig never does that. You can't look to the real media for facts and news. C'mon! If you don't realize that by now...

Wonder who they're writing about? Legally Speaking.. The Urban Coaster

My favorite Urban Coaster story. Haters gotta Hate..

Let me get this right (sorry for asking, but I don't really pay attention to politics): the Urban Coaster is some kind of newspaper done by a person named Jim Gindersake? And where online can I find this newspaper? I want to see this "Life in the 5th Grade" thing IHTRP mentioned. I want to make sure they're not ripping me off, because if they are, Gindersake is in a world of trouble.

Here you go, Timmy.

Life in the Fifth Grade.

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

Oh, and Craig, I agree with your post. Sometimes, I get emails from my readers saying there's fire trucks/squad cars at a scene and for some reason (with the exception of a couple of times), it's always assumed as a shooting/stabbing/other crime.

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

I just finished reading it, Craig. Do you know Gindersake's email? I want to email him to request that he at least changes the "Life in the 5th grade" title because it sounds kind of like a rip off to my articles on here. If you don't have Gindersake's email, is there other emails for The Urban Coaster I can contact?

Thanks, Craig. I'll be emailing him sometime today.

Ok, I understand the controversy. Was it a shooting or not?

What I don't understand is...why can't someone just ask the guy what happened to him??? Is he unable to speak or what? No snitchin'? What gives?

Note to Self-Proclaimed God Craig Gernhardt:

Yes, I'm mortal, Craig, all too mortal. Oh the sin of it, I passed on initial reports (NOT from the media) that later were corrected. FYI I WAS at the Howard EL (coincidentally) at the time . . . so I wasn't listening to the scanner and "reporting" on Rogers Park news. P.S. I don't give a rat's ass what you think about me, my only concern is the feedback of Network 2424 members. To them, I apologized (yes I'll admit that I'm mortal) for the confusion. They are rationale individuals who understand mistakes happen and look at the big picture. Unlike you, they do not suffer from overblown egos, do not need to take every opportunity to proclaim their magnificence, or deride others, as seemingly does the self-proclaimed God of the Hellhole!

The way you're going, you're going to lead these fools off a cliff.

It disappoints to hear Craig's assessment of Bernie. At least Garbo is getting off his posterior and is engaged in his surroundings. Some of us also cast away the safety vests, regularly say hello to neighbors, and walk the beat. I guess one or two are occasionally oblivious or skeptical, but that's life.

Computer jockeys (perhaps, in your jockeys) beware; if you want more mental exercise, then actually experience Rogers Park. You might feel both healthier and safe with experience. Of course, that is, if you are don't freak out everytime you see someone of a different complexion, ethnicity, or age group. You might also want to belly up to the Hop Haus at Clark and Howard.

You might get better social exercise. Of course, if anyone need physical exercise, then bike to the Lake Front. Visual exercise, then bike to North Avenue Oak Street beach.

Yes, there are a few minor challenges in dah Big City. Yet, I recall when Dorfman got whacked by La Cosa; I thought that was in picturesque Deerfield. Perhaps, I'm off by a suburb.

I regret hearing the strategic activity that occurs. Unfortunately, a 'reputed Vice Lord' pushed for turf and now under earth. There aren't that many stray bullets; just ignorance about the consequences. Perhaps, some activity is best kept indoors and away from controversy.

I worry more on the fourth of July. Someone should tell folks the law of gravity before someone gets killed that way. Finally, if traveling at night, make a friend, consider traveling in pairs and bring a cell phone.

As they say on the CTA, "If you see something, say something." Maybe that is why that guy got an ambulance at the Howard Terminal. Let's wish him well.

For what it's worth, the Trib also reported it as a shooting. I checked the history on my computer for Saturday, and that's how the headline read.

They have since changed/updated it.

I was at the Howard el station right before the police and ambulance got there on Saturday night. I did not see the man in question but I did see the blood trail he left on the sidewalk. I agree that it isn't right for anyone to jump to conclusions about the circumstances surrounding the incident, but with the amount of blood in the trail leading from just north of the dunkin donuts to the escalator el entrance, it is hard for me to believe that it was the result of anything but 'criminal activity'. I am honestly shocked to find out that any human has the ability to spontaneously bleed that much.

So do you think little Timmy is busy intimidating big Jim Ginderske?

Per Timmy's favorite catch-phrase for reporting on every little thing he sees at Sullivan Fight School, my guess is that "nothing much happened today."

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

billyjoe, I didn't imtimidate him in my email I sent him this morning. I just made a request that Gindersake uses a different title for those articles because the one he has now sounds like a rip off to me.

I'm going on 16 years old so, so there's nothing little about me.

I don't report every little thing about school. If I did, you'd see much more descriptions on my posts than you do now. And that "catch phrase" I say is in fact true sometimes.

Craig -- No idea how to reach you -- can't find an email address for you on the site... Just thinking that tonight is going to be a bad night in RP. I live on the 7700 block of N Ashland. The corners are packed and all the gang bangers are drinking and being loud. The cops aren't even slowing down as they drive by on that rare occasion that they do. I watched a marked car run the stop sign at Ashland and Jonquil (probably for fear of their life). I want to love my neighborhood, but Chicago and the CPD sure makes it difficult for me.
