"Is it just me or does everyone else see that Ald. Moore is trying to pull one of his classic acts of bullshit? Our resident dope votes for the privatization of Chicago's parking meters, the Inspector General proclaims it a rotten deal, and Joe's latest email flatulence proudly proclaims that he will personally champion "a new review process for future sales or long-term leases of city assets."
In other words, the reason Joe voted for the dog of a deal is not because he's an idiot who didn't do his homework and wasn't bright enough to see this train wreck for what it was; he voted for it because there wasn't a good enough "process" in place for making smart decisions. You know. A better process will fix that.
Sure, Joe openly admitted that it was one of the worst votes he has cast, but he has failed to say why he voted for it. He failed to say why he screwed up so badly. He failed to disclose his own "process" for voting on these types of legislation, which is clearly to avoid doing any real work to make smart decisions. You know. Like smart people.
Sounds like a lot of crap talk to once again avoid admitting he's not capable of doing his job...."

I'm with you - I read that and thought - what an idiot. You should have done your due diligence and review like any sane business person would. The process? That man will do anything to try and get into the spotlight. Wouldn't it be great if he did what he was actually hired to do and make changes in these neighborhoods.
A true leader would have stood up to Daley in the first place.
Moore is jumping on the bandwagon now to score points with the public. We see right through you Joe ... you cowardly snake.
Bernie Stone said aldermen who voted for the deal but now said they made a mistake are "copping out."
"Be proud of what you did. Source/Read more.
"By giving up control of the parking-meter system for 75 years, the city relinquished future parking-meter revenue that has a present value of approximately $2.13 billion. This means that the city received about $974 million less for the parking-meter system than it was worth to the city -- or, alternatively, that the city leased the system for a price that was 46 percent lower than its value to the city. The report's calculations are quite conservative ..."
-- Report of Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman, June 2, 2009.
Thanks, Joe. Your vote helped rip off the city.
Joe Moore. Rubber stamp city council member.
This contract must be rescinded. The aggrieved party to the lawsuit are the Citizens of Chicago!
Just another reason to vote NO MOORE in 2011!
What is it going to take for this town to WAKE UP and hold them ALL ACCOUNTABLE for their actions (votes)!
STOP voting "straight Democratic".
All levels of our Government; Ward, City, County, and State are corrupt, wasteful, and inefficient. In effect they are stealing from us ALL, and need a WHOLESALE clean out and turn over of representatives!
I walked by the theatre today on Sheridan and it looks like it will be reopened this summer.
OK - question? I was walking down Sheridan today going south and I noticed how nice it was where the new CVS is going in and in front of the apartment building - nice landscaping, etc. Then I turned right on Devon and walked to Clark - Much nicer street (than Morse!) - little restaurants, shops, clean without trash everywhere, flower boxes etc - so I'm wondering, is that still Joe Moore's area??? I'm guessing since it's 100% cleaner than both Morse and Sheridan, it's not. When I say cleaner I mean with trash/litter and the rifraf people that he calls "diversity" that hang out on Morse. I'm telling you - the trash that people throw on the streets up here makes me crazy!!
The Devon Street Green Team works on that street...a volunteer group from Edgewater!
That's great because the street does look really nice. So, that's part of Edgewater and not Joe's area? That street is night and day to Morse or Howard.
The strip along Sheridan is Joe's ward, but just west of there up to Columbia is O'Connor's ward, the 40th, which sort of zig-zags around from Pratt (west of the el and on the south side of the street, and from Columbia west of Lakewood,I believe).
O'Connor is a paperweight, but at least he doesn't foster slumlords, and keeps his ward clean. We'd be grateful for that much.
In general, the closer to Edgewater you are, the better it gets.
Joe told us at one of his little donut stops that the dirt, trash, problems, gangs, Morse etc are due to this being an "urban" and "diverse" area. If we didn't like that, it's probably not the place for me to live. WHAT??? I have lived in the city for 20 years (and only 1 1/2 years up here) that is the most absurd comment. He ignored me and went on to the next person to shake hands.
So Joe came clean on two things:
(1) "Diversity" equals rampant gang violence, open-air drug markets and trash strewn streets.
(2) Rampant gang violence, open air drug markets and trash strewn streets are acceptable to Joe.
Yeah. That's the kind of visionary we want in a leadership position in the community where we all live.
RogersParking - yep - pretty much!
Ok, so I see a sign posted up about a meeting protesting the parking meters. What is the purpose? They already voted it in - the Alderman didn't pay attention and now the people they represent are mad. I'm sure Joe acts like he's concerned - But, it's too late - the only thing the people can really do is vote the idiots out the next time around!
The council rammed the TAZ agreement through and by doing so gave away nearly a billion dollars of OUR money. Now they want to give TAZ more money by putting in 24/7 meters in the lake front parks and ram us again. Not only that, they want to pass an ordinance that gives them special passes to park without getting ticketed. WTF? The mayor and the whole dam council should be impeached. IMAGINE we were shorted by a billion dollars! REPEAT! "ONE BILLION DOLLARS"
NOW get their solution ......... a two week waiting period before any future city assets are sold.
Moore now is attempting to look as if he is concerned by having a meeting about lake park parking. First of all the meeting is at 4 o'clock .... DUH who's gonna attend? Not those that need to park overnight in Loyola Park's lot .......... they are still at work. Also the only place I've seen the notices of this meeting have been on condos & buildings that have their own off street parking. So what we have here is a set up photo op.
For Moore to tell people that this is an urban diverse area and if we don't like the gangs, drugs and filth that comes along with that to move. WTF, again. I've lived in Chicago for more years than Moore has been alive and if anyone should move, its Moore to make room for someone that can do the job he's so incapable of doing. I don't equate diverse urban with gangs, drugs and filth its a shame Moore does.
