One store clerk said.... "{Shoppers} are scared to come outside....."

One Alderman said... Nothing.

Honey, I wouldn't be caught dead in Ropa.

ok marilyn - that's just a little dramatic - my guess is that we would rather you didn't come here anyway!
wouldn't devon market be in edgewater?
It's absolutely horrible what happened but employees in all areas, even the suburbs, have been beaten up late at night by people that think they can get money from them.

One Alderman was missing from a Positive Presence Community March and picnic Event in 2424 last Friday. Chicago Police Superintendent Jodi Weis was there, other top Chicago Police Brass was there, Top Evanston Police were there. An Evanston Alderperson was there. No Joe, and no one from his staff or office either!

So, if something POSITIVE happens in Rogers Park, and the Broken Heart doesn't report it, did it happen?

Leslie, since it's on the north side of the street, it's in Rogers Park.

Clarification for those who may need it (not necessarily anyone here... yet): Neighborhood != Ward. There are 77 of the former and 50-some-odd of the latter. Joe's *ward* includes some of the RP *neighborhood* and some of the Edgewater *neighborhood*.

The community has been wounded. Alderman Moore's silence is salt in the wound.

This morning, my class and I took a trip to the Devon market. It was safe to say the least, so RP isn't that dangerous (well on that end of it anyway), from what I can see. I saw no extra security or anything at the market.

Hey dumb ass joey moore where are you you fat ass crime is down alderman??

Let me again remind all the voters to remember this incident as well as all the other crimes that happen in the our ward . While one alderman can not stop all the crime in his or her ward, however when a horrible crime does happen come out and say something; get out and start making the ward safer!! Yes voters remember this incident as well as all the lies & bullshit joey has been selling for o so many years! Next election remember use your minds! Do the right thing, vote joey moore out, we can not live in our ward with a clown driving the bus (so to speak), if
we do we will crash & burn!!

I walk there three to four times a week.
I'm never scared & I'm not going to be.
But then I'm not out on the street at 11PM!
As for the so-called lack of security, the owners are three Israelis & one of them sure looks like ex-Israeli army. He is one tough looking guy.

But several weeks ago, there was a smash & grab at Devon & Bosworth on a Monday afternoon. The victim was an Indian business owner from West Rogers Park & stopped there to go into a store before depositing the cash at the bank. His friend remained in the car, along with the weekend's receipts, about $6,500.
Three guys must have followed him from the store.
The three guys smashed the side window, took the money, which I heard was in a jacket that the friend was holding.
The cops responded incredibly quick & caught all three & recovered the cash. I heard that then 24 Commander Sobczyk actually arrested one & I saw him standing on the sidewalk with the recovered bundle of cash which was about two inches thick.
Along with around a dozen other cops.

I don't have any info as to what's going on with the case now.

Maybe if you guys gave Joe a campaign contribution Joe would show up?

I'm hearing Joe may not even run. The word circulating is he'll help Barb (his wife) get the job.

No Way - his wife? LOL - are you being serious?
I can't imagine Moore would miss a chance to be at a place where there could be media and he could get a microphone (the march) - maybe he needed a break from his rough job and he was on vacation!

I live about a block from the Market. I am not scared to go outside, walk in my neighborhood or shop in my neighborhood. Crime can be random, sure, but in this case it was premeditated, obviously.

I love Rogers Park. Crime happens everywhere. People, like Marilyn, need to stay in their sheltered homes and mindset. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. Keep your ignorance to yourself.

Diana, well said.
Glad you live here.

Horrific crime. I am, and will remain, a fearless and loyal Devon Market shopper.

Oh, and I'm fairly certain that Devon Market is in the 40th Ward. Any comments from O'Connor? I kind of feel that those of us north of Devon in his ward are treated as ugly stepchildren...

I find that ignorance & stupidity often proceed a crime. I walk the streets late at night, leash in one hand, blue bags in the other. I know my neighbors; they know me. We get along. Recently, I experienced a situation on the redline near Grand. Some girl gave an older woman, who may have had a bit or a bad day a condescending look. The girl friends seemed rude; the older woman could not control her anger for a while.

Someone could have gotten hurt. Those in the train stepped back. The girls trapped up. The older lady left. Life went on. The girls did not stop. The played music off their cell phone, chatted, and when some looked at them; the trouble maker subtly scoffed at the next rider to express facial concern back.

You can get what you give, but should try to wisely react to your surroundings. What I believed was the insensitive girl rode the redline to Howard. The three others & her friends tolerated her. I hope she learns. I hope the insensitive one does not get hurt by her ignorance. Life goes on.

Have leash, will travel. Whatever floats your boat,Marilyn. I love Rogers Park. I'm not moving. It seems that Craig's not, either.
