5:16 AM: Citizens from all over the North of Howard area were flooding 911 with calls of "
shots fired" this morning. Addresses given were Jonquil and Bosworth, 7679 North Greenview, 1414 West Jonquil in the alley and 1512 West Jonquil. Four shots were heard. Someone claimed to have seen someone run down the alley. Another said it came from a white car on Jonquil and Sheridan. Police arrive minutes later and say they see/hear nothing. I guess all those callers were dreaming?

Over on Lakewood off Morse...awoken at 3:50am by a series of 10 or so gunshots. Sirens heard eventually.
They didn't say it didn't happen, they said they didn't hear or see any shots fired.
I do not understand why residents would hear shots fired when No Moore is telling everyone in the community "CRIME IS DOWN"!
People in Rogers Park just do' get it!
Crime is down.
Now go back to sleep - no one is shooting!
You are imagining things.
Crime is down!
People are sleeping. Shh!
Man, that list of RP stories on shootings/murders/etc. that follows the post is getting longer and longer. Are most of those just from this year?
Fellow Rogers Parkers.
At about 03:30 AM I heard three series of gunfire, with 3 to 5 shots each. I thought they came from the direction of Morse and Sheridan. They were preceded by some loud yelling and followed by screaming and wailing. The only clear words I heard was a woman yelling "I been shot!" Sirens heard eventually.
Fellow Rogers Parkers:
One other thing I would like to mention. The CAPS 2431 meeting held on Monday evening had an overflow crowd. There were in attendance approximately 40 refugees from Burma and Nepal (men, women, and little children). They didn't speak much English but were represented by young ladies from Catholic Charities. Their worry was that they were being attacked early in the morning and late in the evening on Morse or Sheridan while walking to/from the el to go to work. They were unaware of how to call 911 so none of their "muggings" had been reported to police so far.
Thanks for the info Rachel.
These people will need to be acclimated to the neighborhood and the process of calling 911.
I know this is a stretch Big Daddy but what is the chance that CPD has someone fluent in their language?
Does CAPS have translators avaliable?
The CPD has a language bank available to them so if there is a language problem it can be resolved.
I also heard around 10-12 gunshots, roughly 3:33 AM. Then some screams...
About 4AM, when I walked down Morse heading home, there were several squad cars, & at least one wagon on Morse, by Jonquil. They had sections of sidewalk cordoned off on both sides, & officers that looked like they were searching for evidence.
Saw no one under arrest though... Maybe already in the wagon?
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who heard the gunshots at Lakewood and Morse the other night. It was about 3:35 am by my account, sounded like 7-8 shots from one gun, 5-6 from another, then a woman screaming. Third time I've been woken up by gunshots this year.

Morse and Jonquil are parallel streets, 8 blocks apart.
Shots are being fired left and right - and all MCL cares about is the directions of the streets. Very Joe Moore.
Just interested in keeping the 'facts' straight. That's hardly "very Joe Moore"!
Any news on shots fired last night (11:30ish) near Estes and Paulina? We heard 5 shots and called it in and then saw 8-10 young men sprinting down Paulina towards Lunt. The cops rolled through, but then must have been called to something more pressing because they fled as soon as they showed up.
We live on lakewood right across the street from where it happened. A man was shouting then there were 5 shots and a woman screaming. We didn't see it, but the police put up yellow tape on Lakewood then started searching the area.
