Meet Heather Steans

Friends,

Heather Steans is running for re-election as the Senator in Illinois' Seventh District, and I hope you will join me in supporting her. Heather is an independent, progressive voice in Springfield for the issues we need addressed:

* Affordable, accessible, high quality healthcare for all Illinois residents.

* Full marriage equality because separate cannot be equal.

* Budget reforms that protect and increase core state priorities by eliminating waste and providing long term support from progressive revenue sources.

* Campaign finance and redistricting reforms that help increase independence in our General Assembly.

Heather knows that Illinois remains both ethically and financially challenged and does not mince words about this with anyone in Springfield. We need her forthright leadership to grow and thrive in our State Capitol.

As part of her campaign, Heather wants to meet with as many 7th District residents as possible. If you would like to meet Heather and learn more about her background and positions, go to www.heathersteans.com.

Please email or call her campaign manager, Kelley Quinn, at 773-879-3809, if you would like to attend an event or ask any questions.

If she wants to meet as many of us as possible, I'm curious why she choose to go to a CTA meeting, rather than participate in the debate at Loyola last night.

I saw the Rogers Park/Edgewater sign yesterday. It looks nice...now if they would only clean up the crime around here!

Apparently, according to her representatives, Sen. Steans was not confirmed for that event. No worries though. We are organizing another candidate event for January. Northside DFA and other local community orgs are sponsoring. If you're interested in helping produce this event with me, give me a call 773-718-2822.

Independent? Is that a joke? Please, they all come out of the woodwork to let us know they are still around when it's election time. The rest of the years, it's just form letter responses to your emails.
