Exclusive Breaking News: A 20 year old male has been shot at 7476 North Rogers this afternoon around 5:45PM. Initial calls said the shooting was at 7519 North Paulina. The victim was shot in the face. The alleged offenders are said to have fled west on Rogers in a green van with gold pinstripes.
Scanner reports indicate a gang war has broken out between the GD's on Pratt vs the GD's on Howard, and this could be a retaliation shooting.

If the bangers are feeling so unwelcome that they have to fight each other for territory that is a good thing.

Also wanted to update you guys on something that happend on 7/28
Some super junked out car that didnt look like it could drive was on wayne. Florida Plates and full of junk. We had it towed because it sat in the same place for a few weeks never moving.
After one or two days it was right back on the same stretch of wayne.
With the usual crap written on the windshield and it also had crayon saying "dont move"
Anyways on 7/28 I was in the area around 1030am when people do stuff that they dont want normal people to see.
Like the kindly gentleman who doubleparked on wayne and was fishing through the trunk of the junked lincoln on my block for his crap. He was white and grey haired and portly. His other car was from florida too.
Well me and my mom told him what we thought of his junked car being on our block and using the street for his personal junk collection.
Ofcourse he thought it was okay what he was doing because he did it. He ofcourse said he couldnt park it anywhere else. ETC.
I called 911.
He promptly drove off his one illegally parked car and then drove his junker off to points unknown.
Great guy. A real ASSest to the community. A retired ahole from florida living in the old peoples home on wayne bringing the neigborhood down.
Some old guys arent cool.

GD vs. GD? doesn't sound quite right. There is the LK that is coming in from Clark St. too.
on 7/28 I saw what looked like LK walking down wayne giving me the evil eye, so its possible
that its LK vs GD,
I have in general seen more LK in the area.
Nature abhors a vaccuum.
Thats the problem when you have less gang presence, then you have neigboring factions coming into enemey territory to try to take over and then bam! conflict.
Still better this than a lockdown nutso presence of gang bangers all the time, then you have the danger of drive by shooting.

It's not that nobody cares, no.
It's that we're exhausted, numb really, all of us, from the violence and criminality of this country.
A commenter on my blog refers to United States as Gangsta Nation. Even the "pristine" places are rotten with criminality. It runs from the top of the society to the bottom.
How can we ever get rid of the street violence when our enforcers routinely decline to prosecute killers and/or let them walk with slap-on-the-wrist sentences,because of who they or their victims are?
How can we get rid of the thieving and parasitism when so many people at the top of our society are larcenous scum who get rewarded for grand theft and are handed the keys to the treasury by our pols?
GD v GD sounds about right. My brother is in the CPD and he mentioned something about that to me a week ago.
If this "victim" is a productive young person with a job who takes responsibility for his life and his behavior, then I care.
If this "victim" is a gang scumbag who contributes nothing to life but violence and distruction, then I don't care.
I can see why no one cares when the "victim" is a thug with a rap sheet as long as Sheridan Road.
But for the purposes of enforcing the law and making the streets safe, it doesn't matter who the victim is. We have to prosecute with vigor regardless of our feelings for the victor.
Failure to do that has created an incredibly permissive environment for criminals in this country. And when we release a killer because his victim is nobody we care about, we've just put a killer back out on the streets, and his next victim- and there WILL be a next victim- could be an innocent bystander, possibly someone you love and care about. Think about that.
Does anyone think this might be payback for the shooting in Evanston on the fourth? I can't believe no one is covering this--I rode through the area on a bus about 30 minutes after it happened and the tension on Howard was palpable. Are the cops just letting the gangs take care of this themselves? Somebody needs to do something!
