Jason T. Olsen really has it out for Blane Roberts. At yesterdays petition challenge hearing, Blane found out Mr. Olsen is represented by the legal team of Ancel, Glink, Diamond, Bush, Dicianni & Krafthefer. With a business name like that, you know Jason T. Olsen is serious about getting Blane Roberts off the 49th ward Aldermanic ballot.
But why?
Well, Blane found out the reason he's being challenged. It's not because of any of his petition sheets have bad signatures. Or were notarized improperly.
It's because Jason T. Olsen thinks Blane Roberts owes the city some money parking tickets, dated back circa 1991.
It makes you wonder how in the world Jason T. Olsen knew Blane Roberts allegedly never paid his parking tickets from 1991 in the first place? How did Jason T. Roberts even know Blane owned a car? How'd Jason T. Roberts obtain a copy of Blane Roberts Drivers License? Did Jason T. Olsen know Blane Roberts way back then?
Blane tells me he's checked all city of Chicago databases legally available to him, and all databases he's checked show him clean from owing the city any back revenue. He's confident whatever database these alleged parking tickets show up on are outdated records from long, long ago.
We'll hear more about this petition challenge later this week. There's another hearing scheduled on Friday.

I'm sure Roberts had sense enough to make sure that any obligations to the city, no matter how trifling, were met before he even thought of running, and I feel very sure he'll get past the challenge. This guy is very experienced in municipal government, after all, having worked for a number of elected officials, including a couple of NYC Council members, as well as 44th Ward Alderman Tunney here in Chicago.
However, you can see from all this how important it is for a candidate to be able to afford good legal counsel, especially when running against entrenched incumbents with ample funds. You need money to pay these lawyers and to fight a challenge to your petition, and that's only the beginning.
I'm wishing this excellent candidate well.
Candidate Blane Roberts (49th) Blasts Alderman Joe Moore Machine-Style tactics
I denounce the machine-style tactics by the current alderman. We must speak out against strong arm tactics designed to disenfranchise the residents of the 49th Ward by attempting to eliminate debate and discussion.
The Alderman claims he is for diversity of ideas, debate and participation! Apparently he is for these principles only if it serves him. That has been his 20 year record and it is time to vote for some one who can serve all the people all the time, even when it may be inconvenient. It is called democracy!
I call on community leaders, activist, residents, the press and all fair minded people to demand this alderman cease and desist!!
Blane Roberts
Take a good hard look at Messr. Olsen. He can be found at this link:
http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2010/04/25/ancel-glinks-march-bill-to-grafton-township-%E2%80%93-part-5/
He is listed as an associate of the very firm representing him in the challenge. Check the firm's site and he is not listed

I don't know if he moved on or is too low level to list. I think the real story here is not Mr. Olsen, I think it is the firm Ancel Glink. What is their relationship to Moore?
blane, don't be a crybaby. politics ain't beanbag, as the late great harold washington used to say.
if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.
Mo, do you realize how hypocritical you sound? You spent the better part of the decade crying your eyes out over George Bush's recount election victory in 2000 over Al Gore.
been there, the biggest mutt in Rogers Park, calling someone a crybaby? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
so, expecting blane roberts to follow the letter of the law, and expecting george bush to follow the letter of the law, and not get his rich daddy's friends to write one up for him and only him, those 2 things are different in what way?
