No Debating in the 49th Ward

Karla Dawn Meier wrote a good article. She pretty much hit the nail on the head.

"Four years ago, community organizations in Chicago’s 49th Ward, such as the Rogers Park Community Council, hosted nearly a dozen candidate forums, according to Don Gordon, who ran against 49th Ward Ald. Joe Moore in 2007 and lost by some 260 votes. The forums gave residents a chance to hear directly from Moore and his challengers.

But times were different then. Residents had lots of questions for Moore, who has been in office since 1991. And they demanded forums. This year, no forums have been held in the 49th Ward...." Read more here.

Or a lot of people vote with no clue about what they are voting for and how it will affect their lives, especially in Chicago

What's to debate in this election?

Brian White is no different than Joe Moore.

Joe Moore looks to be "playing possum" regarding the proposed 48th Ward RIF (rental improvement fund) that will cover the entire ward and funnel future property tax increases into the RIF for the purpose of improving Rogers Park rental units as long as a given number of units are set aside for low income rentals, at the expense of every taxpayer in Rogers Park and the rest of Chicago. I feel very sure that Moore is only waiting till the election is over and he is safely re-installed in his position to commit to this insanity.

Brian is an unabashed advocate of the RIF.

I've never been so uninspired by an election. I'll vote, yes, but I'll probably be writing someone in because I can't bear to punch the card for either one of these men.
