Water Bill Sinks Ben Meyers

Jason T. Olsen bumped another 49th Ward candidate off the ballot. Ben Meyers is his latest victim. Election Board Hearing officer Gerald B. Mullin found Meyers is indebted to the city in the tune of $51.08, for failing to pay a water bill.

Here's another example of incompetence from Ben Meyers:
On Tuesday, Meyers or someone working for him distributed flyers for him on the 1700 block of Albion. One minor problem, the block is in the 40th Ward. The 49th doesn't start until the North side of Wallen.

A water bill? so what? I have no idea who the guy is but that seems pretty ridiculous in this crazy city

- I used to love the political process but after the last idiocy move by the Illinois legislature and our wondrous Governor, I may have to ignore it all in IL.

State law prohibits anyone on the ballot plus they are also ineligible to take office if they are "in debt to the municipality".
That law almost prevented Harold Washington from being sworn in as mayor as he hadn't paid a number of his bills, which of course had sales taxes added to them.
Washington's aides had to rush around the day before the swearing in paying all his overdue bills.

If Meyers is out, he doesn't seem to know it.

He was outside my building near Ridge and Howard this evening (1/16), putting his flyers on parked cars.

Ben needs to spend his time watching what goes on at his problem property on Jonquil - and after the denial phase - Do Something About The Problem
