Blowout (Update)

Early number show Joe Moore ahead by a landslide. Brian White can now crawl into a hole with Michael Harrington.

24 out of 42 precincts (57.14 %)

JOE MOORE3,92972.25 %
BRIAN WHITE1,50927.75 %

33 out of 42 precincts (78.57 %)

JOE MOORE5,24171.50 %
BRIAN WHITE2,08928.50 %

42 out of 42 precincts (100.00 %)

JOE MOORE6,85772.01 %
BRIAN WHITE2,66527.99 %
The numbers don't lie. Brian White got munched up by Joe Moore. Chewed up and spit out. If we were racing, White would've been what we call a 'lapper.' White didn't even win one precinct. His largest numbers came from the 18th, (I'm guessing his own) where White garnered 49% of the vote.

When less than half of your closest neighbors don't support you, you know you're a lost cause.

What makes it worse for White is the turnout. If he was hoping a larger turnout would help is cause, he was dead wrong. We had more residents cast votes at the precincts than ever.

In 2003 - 6746 turned out to vote for 49th ward Alderman.

In 2007 - 7441 turned out.

This election cycle 9522 voters went to the polls. Saying 49th Ward residents didn't care, or had voter burnout about this election, would be a disingenuous statement.

White ran one of the poorest campaigns in recent memory. With the RIF as a major campaign issue, White lost the ear of the voting public. With backers like Scott Phillips and Michael Harrington, White alienated many hardworking residents in the ward.

Blognotes: If I were Joe, I'd make sure Lakeside Community Development city funds "dried up."

What will this be, JoMo's fourth term? It unfortunately took a close race against DoGo four years ago for JoMo to start focusing on the ward instead of his idiotic misadventures of, as Mother Jones said, expanding what it means to be a local politician, by concerning himself with undoubtedly non-49th ward issues such as the Iraq War and foie gras. When JoMo has focused on Chicago issues, he has unfortunately been on the wrong side of the argument, e.g. he headed up the fight against Wal-Mart and against increased jobs and tax revenue. Why are Targets and K-marts allowed in the City and why does JoMo shop at Home Depot in Evanston if bigbox stores are so bad?

Craig, I know you think JoMo is a changed man. But I don't think a tiger can change his stripes. With an over 70% "mandate" from the 49th ward voters, I fear JoMo will go back to his progressive ways and bad philosophy of government.

And what hole will you now crawl into, Little Joe? You bent over for Big Joe, and he was heard making fun of you at his election event. He referred to you as a drunk with mental issues who didn't really do anything for him but at least didn't make as much noise as before. He's laughing at you.

So, your anti-Big Joe blog is now pointless, and so is everything else you have to say from now on.

You were played, Little Joe.

Nice job.

And we both know you won't post this.

That sound you hear is crickets.

I like Hugh, he is like the forboding darkness that would be present during a four year olds birthday party.

"Eat the cake now johnny, eat it, little do you know that you will soon have diabetes and a stroke leaving the entire right side of your body paralyzed... Live it up little johnny, ahahahahahaha!"

Wow Hugh,
I will invite you over whenever I need someone to beat the crap out of my ego or any twinge of happiness that I may have.

Hugh still doesn't live in the 49th Ward.

Uh Hugh, The drunk with mental issues Joe was referring to was actually you...... and it's clear, you have MAJOR issues, far worse that Craig could ever dream of having, and I'll bet he's probably pretty happy he doesn't have your "issues"

Brian White seems very capable of being Alderman - but his RIF idea is just D U M B.

Does Rogers Park needs more affordable housing? Should tax payer's money be used to prop up "boarderline" landlords?

According to neighbors and friends I have spoken to - NO! No, no.

A simple survey beforehand might have told him the RIF strategy is likely to be a flop.
