Garbage truck knocks out power to local residents around Pottawatomie Park

Electrical power has been shut down around Rogers and Honore this afternoon around 12:15 p.m., when a garbage truck driver backed into an electrical pole in the alley at 7353 West Rogers. A cab driver was right under the power line tried to get his vehicle out. Police blocked off the alley and kept the driver from moving his cab.

Another curious neighbor wondering why his power was out looked at the downed pole and said, "Oh my, wonder how long this will take to get power restored?"

As of 12:45 p.m. ComEd hadn't arrived on scene. No word if the garbage truck driver was cited for crashing his garbage truck into the electrical pole.

In other news, an anonymous 911 caller said two males are "smoking crack" in the backyard around 6800 North Wayne.

Well yeah you are right.

Craig missed out on alot of up close and personal reporting by not living there. Maybe he could rent a place there and stay there on the weekends. BTW nice pic Craig.

Best in hyperlocal news in real time is still the HellHole.
Dnainfo will report on it days later after tons of research and photo expose.

Was it a city truck or a private scavenger?

It's nice to see some good old back-patting going on here but I think both of your blogs AKA "News Sources" have worn out their welcome and are pretty much irrelevant. I think all three of ya ought'a hop in Craig's bathtub and rub one out together.

Rebecca, it was a private company, although the scanner call reported the garbage truck was a city worker. Tried to snap a picture but my old camera failed. Can't blame the thing. I've had it since I started the blog in 2004.

I need to put a new camera on my wish list.
