Locals avoid Morse Avenue for brunch

When it comes to local businesses getting support from the community, Morse Avenue has a couple of brunch opportunities to choose from. Yet no one seems to be taking them up on their offer. Both Chuckie's and MorseL were as empty as the Morseland this Saturday morning.

To be fair I went by these places of business twice this morning to see how our neighbors responded to them being open and serving breakfast. Chuckie's was empty both times. MorseL was empty at 10:30 a.m., yet did have two tables filled at 11:30 a.m. Sadly, two tables filled in that massive space still looks empty.

Both these businesses are trying to fill a niche for the Everyblockheads who say "we need this and we need that." Yet, when a person steps to the plate and gives them what they ask for - no one shows up to eat. I guess the blockheads were still in their pj's, grabbing an Egg McMuffin at McDonald's thru the drive-up window instead.

Occupy Rogers Park is at it again.

yea, people in the hood want to support Starbucks. never an empty seat in that place. "Rah-Rah support local businesses" and then the cheerleaders go to Starbucks. Cops too. Don't think I have ever observed the cops support a local family-owned coffee shop.

Guy's, we're off-topic here. This is about brunch options on Morse. If I were EB Becca you'd be banned for a month.

That said. Why aren't people flocking to MorseL and Chuckie's for breakfast? It can't be the rain. I was at Pillar's just minute's after this photo (see other blog post today) and the place was 3/4's packed.

Is it the food MorseL and CHuckie's serve?

Is it the price for the food they serve? Or how it was reviewed on Yelp?

Or could it be our local neighbors are concerned for their safety when walking down Morse Avenue? Even at 10:00 or 11;00 o'clock in the morning.

Brunch is more of a Sunday morning thing, I think. Give the local Morse guys a chance to figure it out. They may come up with a more attractive Saturday morning option. I have faith in business people. If they can't offer a PRODUCT people want to PAY FOR, they will not succeed. Morse/Glenwood is still finding its legs as a destination dining option.

I heart RP Slayer.

Okay back on topic, agreed with the sad fact that brunch ain't happening on Morse right now. Look at Bryn Mawr the locals there are brunching it up big time at the new Nookies there right by the EL stop. It is also true that Rogers Park and Morse has a ways until it is the hub that Bryn Mawr is now, but it will get there.

A few more buildings around there need to change hands and be rehabbed.

Fuckin awesome Bro. Preacher Elmer Gantry, ace detective Mike Hammer and enforcer Rambo all rolled up into one scary package called Gernhard. Tell it like it is Mr. "Alderman". Kick this hellhole of a neighborhood into shape. Hey lapdog. Sit; say bow wow; now go fetch. Haha you kill me.

Yeah Jeff is pretty good at getting things off topic. Any tattoo parlors or bumper stickers need addressing? No? Ok. Let's get back on topic. Morse will come into its own for fucks sake. It will take time. Ease your goddamn sphincters are let businesses show up and work shit out. They're trying. They're investing in the neighborhood and every one of them has been something locally owned or invested in. It's not like Applebees and Outback Steakhouse just took a shit on Morse and opened up two places where the dollar store used to be. These are places trying to appease a local audience but are learning shit along the way for sure.

I've been here for over two years and I've found anything other than on Sheridan gross and dangerous.
