Chelum Imam Hussain Parade on Devon

A painted horse, a black velvet covered coffin and lot's of chanting took place January 5, 2013 along the 2200 block of West Devon, then turning on Western to Warren Park. It was the Chelum Imam Hussain parade, which celebrates Hazrat Imam Hussain, who died for the cause of Islam, offering his soul to give eternal life while maintaining values of humanity.

Although one anonymous neighbor called 911 complaining about the horse, the celebration was very peaceful, as one person even offered me some food. There was an official permit for the parade from the City of Chicago, including the horse.

For cities in other countries this celebration doesn't go as smoothly as this West Ridge/West Rogers Park parade did. Karchi, for example, suspends cell phone service and barbed wires the city to maintain law and order.

A horse on Devon. Cool.

Enough with these idiotic ethnic parades.
All they do is make a mess out of traffic for hours so a few clowns can walk down the middle of the street, like they own it!
Send them all to the Soldier Field parking lots to do this!

Becca, was it you who called 911 on the horse?

I didn't even know this idiotic parade happened until I read your blog.
Some other pissed off person called about the horse, probably because it looked delish!
