Dog rescue at Lunt and the lake (Update)

Around 5:40 p.m. January 1, 2013, a dog ventured out into Lake Michigan and couldn't make it back to shore. Fire and Marine units have been called to the scene to rescue the dog, with upwards to 12 first responding vehicles on Lunt east of Sheridan Road.

According to reports the dog was about 50 to 70 yards out. Fire Department divers said the dog went under. Police say the dog was out of the water at 6:16 p.m. No word at this time if the dog survived. I'm sure Benji will be all over this story.

UPDATED: The dog named Zues the Husky was saved. The owner was ticketed for a dog off-leash.

Well, to channel an old EBRP argument, wonder if that dog was on a leash. And wonder how much city money was wasted saving the animal who should have been on a damn leash.

Funny, this guy was issued a $35 dollar ticket for an off-leash dog that need over a dozen first responding vehicles and nearly 30 first responders.

And mine was $300.00 for having dogs tied to a tree.

Yeah, that fair for the tax-payers.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me this story is a JOKE!
@Bill: If this story is true, they didn't waste CITY money. They wasted YOUR money. And it was a DOG, not some old eastern european woman.
