SSA #24-Tax Dollars Found in City of Chicago Garbage Can!

Throwing Your Money Away.

Tools1_9

The first line on the Special Service Area #24 budget. Cleaning Supplies and Waste Management.

In 2004 SSA #24 spent a whopping $2545.00 for items like theses six waste scoopers found jammed behind the New-SSA #24-Janitor's Headquarters. These were found thrown away in a City of Chicago "regular" taxpayer funded trash collection dumpster. With a web-search price range between, low end no frills at $19 and high end steel ones priced at $56 dollars each.

To the nine SSA #24 commissioners, this must be no big deal. In 2005, the SSA#24 budget is set for $2500.00 in NEW SUPPLIES and Waste Management! Here is your taxpayer money...being thrown away. Plus, you are paying the removal fee, not the extra tax SSA#24 DevCorupt is collecting.

I don't have the SSA #19 2005 budget, but for sure, those Howard Street Special Service Area taxpayers are paying for the same thing SSA#24 is. Where is all this money going, in the Garbage?

On top of all this, they do not even try to recycle. What a bunch of HYPOCRITES!

Even though I'm made fun of for being raised on a farm, I was taught and learned, tools and equipment are expensive, take care of them and they will last! My Uncle can keep the same shovel for 3 years, using it EVERYDAY, including Easter and Christmas!

Where-as DevCorupt chooses to throw these five, perfectly working, property taxpayer funded Janitor tools away, then bill the taxpayers for it's removal, then not really have it removed by a private service, but the city, and then go out and buy more equipment on the taxpayers dime, more equipment they really didn't need to buy because the old equipment is still in working condition, I may put these 5 garbage collection devices for sale on E-Bay.

This garbage scooping device works so well, I'm keeping one for myself.

Why would anyone toss away such scoopers if they still work fine? This is crazy. Saw your poster today. Someone should have done this long ago.

I wonder who DevCorp's offficial supplies supplier is, and whose campaigns they contribute to?

You seem to have the time, the energy, and (apparently) no problem hanging around dumpsters. Why do you waste your time ranting about it on a blog site like a lunatic? If you really care that much then why don't you fight the power from the inside, where you will actually have some credibility? Seems like what you're doing is the cowards' way - screaming at the enemy from a point of safety.

I think the guy's doing a bloody fantastic job at making people aware of what's going on. Coward, you say? I say the pen's mightier than the sword. Do you think the reporters who uncovered the Hired Truck program or the towing abuses are cowards as well? Same thing here, just on a smaller scale.

No, I think that those were reporters doing their job, and that story was in actual news publications, so that people actually heard about it.

What this guy's doing is complaining.

I didn't see anywhere in his "report" (or would that be quote "report" unquote, Craig?) him mentioning that he contacted the SSA or did anything useful. All he did was take soem photos of a garbage can, and then gleefully exclaim that he's swiping one for himself.

The pen is, in fact, mightier than the sword.
Only, where is the pen in this case? This is a blog site, not a news medium.

To these folks who are not leaving their names.

I am the last of the "Original Morse Avenue Clean Team Members. In 2003, I volunteered over 20 community hours, working with Sullivan HIgh School students on Saturday's cleaning Morse Ave. Call Harry Osterman to verify.

I call and email DevCorp weekly on issues of SSA neglete. Call Rene or Sandi to verify.

On Crime, I have "been there done that" at the endless hot air CAPS meetings. Call Kevin O'Neil, he will said "I am out of the loop." But I do offer a Paws 4 Peace, dog safe walk group. I attended 3 court advocacy cases in 2003. I walked in at least 15 anti-violence marches, I protested these re-active phoney marches at the same time.

On the Parks, I am a co-chairman for the MonDog, the only leash free Chicago dog beach. I spend once a week cleaning up dog crap other dog owners leave behind. I volunteered many, many, many hours this summer and fall to raise awareness to the Expansion of LakeShore Drive. I spent a Saturday with the Friends of the Trees at Loyola Park, pruning and putting mulch around some 30 trees.

I applied to be an SSA commissioner and on the Morse Avenue Streetscape, was left off both. SHOCKING... HUH?

Through all this, I sent flowers to one of Joe's staffers, who was in the Hospital.

I believe I can bitch if I want too. As for being un-involved, anonymous and bitching, that's fine by me.

Correction, this was this year 2004.

It was the herrin brothers cases.

Which one of Joe's staff was in the Hospital?

Well, then... I stand corrected, and I apologize.

Didn't you also help Harrington lose to Fagus?
