* CAPS Beat 2431 January Meeting Notes '06

13 people attended the January '06 meeting. The Broken Heart was wrong yesterday in reporting that Kevin O'Neil would talk politics, as the meeting stayed on-focus. We heard the annual propaganda Crime is decreasing report, we talked about gang tagging and shopping for food and stuff. No mention from Fran Tobin or Cary Steinbuck on the 1528 West Morse Senior building issue. Those two didn't show up.

Hot spot problems were talked about too. The eastern side of Glenwood Avenue, between Morse and Lunt has had a power outage for a week. No lights. I reported this to 311 last week and have been avoided to bring the problem up here to give the city a fair amount of time to fix it. It's dark and dangerous looking on that block.

2006 issues to work on. O'Neil explained Commander Rottner wants to put pressure on those who break the quality of life laws in the neighborhood. That means arrests for peeing in the alley, open drinking, etc. Also 2431 will work on ways to get the business owners on Morse Avenue to attend meetings.

Those other notable absentees: building owners Mr. Block, Mr. Medina, blog-lawyer Thomas Westgard, Ms. Everything Katy Hogan, SSA #24 moneyman Rene Carmego (all though mentioned once) and all business owners on Morse Avenue.

Craig,

Thanks for posting the meeting notes.

Say, isn't the beat facilitator O'Neil also a webmaster? You'd think he could manage to post them somewhere.
