* Nice Name-Wrong Street

The orange sign says My Quiet Place Cafe. I wonder if these new owners are talking quiet as in "silent and peaceful?" Would you describe Morse Avenue as "quiet and peaceful" street? Are they talking quiet as in noise?

If that's their definition, that's not Morse Avenue. These new owners didn't do their research on quiet locations. Not by a long shot. From the gang turf gun battles to street fights. From beating seniors to death, to the bullets that caused the very hole in the window next to the quiet sign. These are indications Morse Avenue is far from quiet.

Recently closed Taqueria-Entre-Amigos at 1343 West Morse is being transformed to My Quiet Place Cafe and is undergoing renovation as the newspaper covered windows indicates.

Maybe My Quiet Place Cafe needs to find another location or change it's name to the My Bullet Ridden Window Cafe? My Quiet Place just doesn't fit.

Isn't this the kind of business idea that many people on this blog have been asking for?

A dollar store going in here that allow gangs to hide inside would be bad.

A cafe like this, with hopefully responsible owners, could help turn street. A quality business that is sucessful will encourage more investment in our empty store fronts.

So all I ask is that we don't destroy businesses before they even open. That is not going to help anyone.

Nice shot.....it's a way underexposed though.

Paradise,

There was a sign on Sweet Occasions last year when they closed up for the Fall/winter that they would be re-opening this summer. They still have the Morse location listed on their website.

It's a pretty small space, but some bigger restaurants have started out that way. Take Leona's. They were a little storefront grungy place on Sheffield when it was seedier over there. How about Andie's? same thing. If the food is special and the owner/staff are personable- they have hope and potential.

We are frankly, desperate for some affordable places to eat that serve healthier food around here. We went to the Entre Amigos place for lunch and it wasn't even that great! They were nice though and it felt like eating in the lady's kitchen.

I wish them luck.
