* Rogers Park Goonings Are Back...

... With A Vengeance.

Remember last summer, when we worked so hard to get Alderman Moore to work on the Block Buildings?

Remember how he promised to work on it, to get the name(s) of the owners, to keep the pressure on? Well, that didn't happen.

Those promises were broken. Our Alderman let the issue disappear as soon as the weather got cold, and let the opportunity to build our coalition slip away.

There have been three gooning incidents this spring in Rogers Park so far, one involving a friend of mine at Lunt and Glenwood, and not counting the gun battle that happened there a month ago. There will always be desperate people with bad morals, but an unresponsive elected official is not something we have to tolerate.

There are consequences to the Alderman's neglect and broken promises. Maybe our plans would have worked, and maybe someone wouldn't have been attacked. Joe Moore signed on to the plan, took it over, and dropped it like yesterday's news at the first opportunity. His involvement was never about making real change, it was about getting some fleeting political advantage. We need to ensure that he doesn't get what he doesn't deserve.

CAPS Beat 2431, which includes the Block buildings, has organized a community safety walk next Friday, June 2 at 7 pm (1340 West Morse Avenue). This is the perfect time to gather and remember how our hard work was deflected and left to rot.

Maybe he'll even show up and provide some BS explanation for his neglect.

Please forward this email to other Rogers Parkers.
