A man was reported in stable condition Saturday morning after falling from a window in Rogers Park while on the run from police.
Officers pulled the man over for a traffic stop Friday night near Birchwood and Damen avenues. But the driver bailed from his car and ran off into an apartment building.
Witnesses said he tried to kick down several doors before he finally forced his way into a third-floor apartment at 7454 N. Seeley Ave., half a block west of Damen. Then he fell from the window.
“They tried to get him out the window, and he was holding on, and he just said, ‘My life is over,’ and he let go, and he fell,” a witness said.
The offender has been charged with criminal trespass, criminal damage to property, and possession of cannabis, all misdemeanors, Rogers Park District Capt. Howard Denk said.
He was also wanted for a warrant in Wisconsin, which might explain why he ran.
The suspect’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

If you don't like that these crimes are misdemeanors, talk to your State Representative and State Senators. They are the ones who have the power to change these laws.
