September 25, 2006-Chicago, Il - Jim Ginderske, reform candidate for 49th ward Alderman, announced today that candidate Chris Adams is the target of a complaint with the City of Chicago Board of Ethics, demanding that he disclose his ties to Wal-Mart. Chris Adams is a former employee, and his wife Tina-Marie Adams a Senior Vice-President, at Hill & Knowlton. H&K is a multinational public relations firm for Wal-Mart. It is also competing for a $200 million advertising contract with Wal-Mart.
"The special interests in Washington and Arkansas should take their battles elsewhere," Ginderske demanded. "Adams and Moore want to hold a referendum on the big box ordinance, at the expense of serving Rogers Park residents, who are desperately in need of quality healthcare, safe housing, and crime prevention."
For 16 years Joe Moore has served irresponsible landlords and developers at the expense of the public good. He has disguised this harmful local agenda by donning a "progressive" mask on national issues. The needs of the 49th ward are too great to allow this election to be hijacked by outside forces. Ginderske 2007 will continue to address the real issues of the campaign and demand that our community's best interests are served.
Ginderske demands that Adams fully disclose all past and present connections to Wal-Mart.
Let the name calling begin. If the self proclaimed Jimmy Carter democrat wants, he can respond to Nico's mom and she can post the response here. If the other guy wants to have one of his stooges reply because he doesn't have a clue what's going on, have at it.

That's about as well-crafted a 2-sentence summary of Moore as I've seen anywhere!
I think this is a valid issue because Wal-Mart has a history of making an example of politicans that try to block stores or pass laws that aren't to their liking. They help run candidates, get volunteers to issue recall petitions, and generally inject themselves into local races.
The most recent example is in Wisconsin, where Wal-Mart allegedly helped recall an Alderman that voted to block a store from opening.

If Adams' wife and her company stand to gain a $200 mil. contract by the election of a Wal-Mart friendly candidate - who happens to be her husband - that's a gigantic conflict of interest.
Before I make my decision, I want to know if this is true and what ties to Wal-Mart Adams and his wife have.

Adams is the 49th ward pro Wall Mart canidate soon to be endorsed by Daley.
The location will be on our former lake front as the landfill and LSD extension will provide ample land and easy LSD access. Expect Adams to roll over and rubber stamp that one too. Ever wonder why no major lake front park improvements in our neighborhood?

it seems to me Adams is the only decent candidate out there. can't this neighborhood finally ditch moore? I hope it's not a case of voter apathy.

Did someone say Trash Detective? All I know is that I haven't seen Chris Adams picking up any litter around here lately.
Joe Moore used to pick up trash in the alley and around the 'hood back in 1990, and it impressed a lot of people, and so he got elected. Not quite sure that picking up trash 1) qualifies one for the job of Alderman; 2) means much of anything.
My neighbor and I have picked up tons of trash in the last 4 years. We do 'clean n green' more than twice a year. Maybe we should jump in the race too. We're experts on trash and 911 calls.
BTW - I've seen Chris Adams at Beat 2422 meetings a few times. He was at the Island Groove meeting and at the failed coup to get TIF dollars for the soup kitchen.
I find James' scurrilous claim petty at best. Just last week I was thinking that RP is very fortunate to have 3 very caring, professional, informed people running for Alderman against JoMo. One may like one candidate over another but they're all decent folk and isn't that grand. And, I was thinking that I should offer to host a block coffee talk for James so my neighbors and I could get to know him in person. Now I don't want James in my home.
It's too bad, James. You have a nice website, you've clearly spent a lot of time on your positions. But, you align yourself with unsavory people who make scurrilous attacks on others, and now you undertake this activity yourself. In my view, that means that you are just as mean and petty as JoMo. I don't want mean and petty anymore. I want honest, forthright, respectful, and transparent -- for all residents, including those running against you. I'm not getting that vibe from you right now.
Can anyone imagine what life would be like w/ James in office? Every time anyone has a criticism he'll send his lapdog, Westgard out, to attack. And then he'll write a press release tossing mud at whoever is criticizing. Presumably Craig won't publish any that attack hellhole, though. oh, it will be just like life under Joe. New boss, same as the old boss.
Pamela- you are taking me way too literally. When I say picking up litter, I mean being hands on in the ward. Showing up and doing the grunt work counts for alot in my book. I don't care who you are- picking up litter speaks of good character in my book.
I agree that things are getting kind of nasty and I'd like to see all the candidates rise above this level.
Oh my god this is fucking hilarious! The only time I ever come on to this blog is when so many people are jackingoff on it that everyone I see tells me to go for a laugh.
I'm sure if Jimmy had a better writer on his staff, they would have made the press release focus on the fact that Chris Adams has not filed his statement of financial interests with the Board of Ethics. There are rules to be followed in an election. It's just that we're in Chicago where the rules are not the rules.
We all need a primer on Chicago elections to understand the games being played. Or take a moment to read Royko's "Boss".

Instead of looking at this shit like it's all negative - start asking some real fucking questions. And let's see what the answers are.
