* Ginderske Blog Team At it Again

For those of you who guessed Jim Ginderske's blog team was behind the gang-vertisng , you were right. We got duped. I got sent a photo that was floating on the internet.

Turns out the Ginderske campaign made this whole thing up to make Alderman Moore look bad.

The 'Broken Heart' is sorry for any confusion. This wasn't done by Alderman Moore's supporters. But the Ginderske campaign should be ashamed of themselves. We'll keep a closer eye on Ginderske and his guys dirty tricks in the future.

After all, this is 'HIS TEAM.' What 'HIS TEAM' does is 'HIS' responsibility.

Are you sure? That seems kind of infantile and unprofessional in a way.

I think it would be wiser to not ignore people of color when they are walking into Dominicks. Some co-workers of mine said that Don Gordon AND Jim's people repeatedly ignored them and approached the white people for signatures. They are voting for Joe Moore because he doesn't ignore them.

Joe Moore would never be so foolish as to behave in such a way and I was disheartened to hear this about the other candidates.

What gives? Are they afraid of pretty young Mexican ladies?

This is laughable. I AM a Mexican lady, and i find Jim and everyone in his crew pretty engaging. I have spoken to him at various events and he genuinely has a conversation with you. Ask Ginderske a question and you know what you get? A well thought out answer.

I've had exactly one conversation with Joe Moore that consisted of him asking "do you live in the ward?" he smiled, made pleasantries when i replied yes and immediately turned his attention to another potential vote. If i had said no, i think he would have put his palm across my face and shoved me aside.

You can lob accusations of racism at Gordon and Ginderske from your caucasian perch. A friend of a friend who works at Dominicks and thinks they saw someone do this or that is not credible in the least. If i'm not mistaken, both camps have friends and volunteers of many ethnicities and diverse backgrounds. For you or anyone else to cry Racism is pathetic and unfounded.

It is really pathetic that the usual hearsay and racial pandering has crept into this aldermanic race. It's a good bet that every candidate was getting whatever signatures they could no matter the race of the signer.
Joe Moore has been playing the worst kind of racial politics for 16 years. He gives lip service to hiring people of color. What has improved for Black or Hispanic people through Moore's political manuevering? Not much at all. He props a couple of Black kids around him when he "digs" the first hole for the Gale Park Field house. It screams "look what I'm doing for you people!" He really does believe that he can buy people off with chicken and dollar store school supplies. Joe Moore IS foolish enough to behave in exactly such a manner. He disguises it as benevolence for "those people" and that includes pretty young Mexican ladies.
As for being duped, perhaps you should get your OWN photos like you used to instead of depending on what "floats" on the Internet. You used to be something of a journalist and now it's all polemics and sandbox fighting. It's too bad that this is all virtual and can't be used as litter box liner.

My co-worker (a person I see every day at MY job) said they experienced this. They live right near Dominick's and shop there often. You guys are missing my point. I want Jim or Don to succeed. I think we should give someone else a chance. I was just concerned when someone I know personally said they experienced this. I want them to take heed of this honest feedback.

It wasn't Jim himself- it was his helpers they said. I know Jim a bit too and am seriously considering voting for him.

I am not saying Jim is racist at all or Don - just that it's better to approach everyone and not slight anyone. Maybe my co-workers are sensitive, but they can't be the only ones. When she told me this, I said I was sorry to hear that and I made my case about voting for Jim or Don rather than Joe. I am not the enemy.

And finally, I was trying to be funny with my "afraid of Mexican ladies" comment. It's so hard to get tone across online!

And if you ignore certain people because you don't think they are worth your time or you feel uncomfortable approaching them for whatever reason, it can be interpreted as raciscm. This friend/co-worker of mine said she felt like Don and Jim's people approached the white people and ignord her and her sisters more than once. I believe she is not making this up.

I'm not saying it's always easy to approach everyone equally, maybe they want to approach the people they think are registered voters. But you can't always judge a book by it's cover. The young women I am referring to grew up in this ward and they vote.

It's funny how you buried this post under the --Very Long-- Joe Moore post.

You could've saved face on this one if you had simply cited where you got the photo, and given the appropriate credit to the other blog. Then, at least, it wouldn't look like you tried to pass it off as a real story/picture. It would just look like you found a story that you thought your readers would find interesting. Instead you try and play it like "the other guy" is practicing bad politics... Just say what happened... They set you up, and you took the bait. Oops.. This had nothing to do with politics and everythig to do with you "borrowing" content from other blogs without proper citation. A simple footnote would've set you free...

I stopped posting on your blog after you started censoring the comments section. It's too bad too. I just moved to the area, and I found some of the discussions to be informative and engaging. I didn't always agree with everyone, but that's what made me want to contribute.

Now that I know you don't even check the validity of what you post.... I think I'll just go pick up a copy of the Enquirer.

I don't expect you to post this, since it's basically an indictment of your journalistic integrity, but just know that you have turned an active, participating, reader into a passive observer who reads for entertainment more than information, in the span of only 5 months.

Congratulations.

RP, you are correct that ignoring people because you don't think they vote or matter is wrong all wrong. But keep in perspective that all these volunteers are approaching people, some of whom do NOT want to be approached. People who are too busy and glare, ignore, avoid eye contact, or are flat out rude. Perhaps your co-workers felt slighted because a volunteer thought they looked like they didn't want to be hassled or maybe the volunteer was dealing with someone else. Who knows. But racism is a very big deal and a very ugly word to throw about lightly.

I did not use the word racism- you did. Keep that in mind please! Knees jerk big time around here -which is why I hesitate commenting most of the time.

Racism:
Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

You wrote:
"Some co-workers of mine said that Don Gordon AND Jim's people repeatedly ignored them and approached the white people for signatures."

In so may words, that is exactly what you implied by saying that volunteers approached only white people.

Smarty- I disagree with you. I called out about something I heard from a co-worker that was not good. I did not slap a label on it and there is a difference. I did not call anyone racist- you say I implied- but that is how you read it. Why must we always resort to labels- it's just too easy I guess. Now, I guess I better find something more constructive to do.

Also, I don't know why Don or whomever did not approach my co-worker and her sisters- I can't imagine. I don't think Don or Jim are racist AT ALL. But none of us is perfect and I just was concerned that they would lose valuable votes by slighting certain people for WHATEVER the reason. You started with the label not me. Own your own stuff please and don't project it onto me.
