I told you why I started this blog didn't I? I didn't start this blog to point out the misspellings in the Alderman's press releases and material. No, not really. I started the blog to offer another side of the story our leaders were putting out to the public.
I wanted to talk about the crime and bad buildings. I wanted to talk about stories that would appear in the neighborhood community newsletters, the community newspapers and the flyers posted around the ward for community meetings.
In earlier editions of RP2000, the community propaganda newsletter from Rogers Park Community Council, a column was published by Cary Steinbuck called, "Just the Facts Maam," who would write stuff tailored like press releases from the Alderman's office.
Fast foreword to modern day media. The blogs.
Blogs now offer information and debate to the propaganda these one-sided newsletters like RP2000 produce. Back then you could send a letter to the editor offering a rebuttal to a story you felt may not have all the facts... but they'd never print it. Even when you put your full name and address.
Fast foreword some more. Now anyone can take on a personality and challenge the contents of this blog without giving away their true identity in fear of something or another.
In this foul mouth quote we have a insider using the code-name 'Just the fact Maam' to debate some speculating by Hugh. Here we have a spin-master 'Just the facts Maam' challenging Hugh on the information Hugh wrote about.

"What a crock of shit. And I believe in the Easter bunny too. Show me one shred of proof this any of this nonsense Hugh writes is true and I'll eat my words.
In other words, how about giving us Just the Facts Maam, instead of some nonsense flying out of Hughes addled brain."

Hugh knows his shit. We've checked. Also, it's hard to deny any of the TIF related things he writes about, because the evidence is right there in the reports produced by the city. It's right there in the campaign disclosure reports for everyone to see.

There is no doubt that TIFs are money laundering machines built to finance the campaigns of Helen Shiller, Da Mare, Blago, etc., etc., etc.
Your government is on the take, and they'll paint those who bring it to light as crazy lunatics. They'll do and say anything to save their skins and their $100K+ a year taxpayer funded jobs.
If you clicked the Just the Facts Maam story, you were reading about what Michael Harrington wished.
Here's a quote from Harrington on the recent DevCorp North site .
"The goal of the plan is to create more vibrant, attractive and successful commercial areas that benefit the entire Rogers Park community. Our hope is that this plan will... "...attract quality, accessible, vibrant, welcoming, working shopping opportunities for everyone regardless of income, race, etc. where you can get what you need and want for home, business, spirit, stomach, creativity, brain and the joy of life," as local resident Michael Harrington and his working group enthusiastically proclaimed at our second community meeting.
Quite the difference a year makes for Harrington. The only thing that's stays the same - his old 2003 campaign debt.
What I learned from this was that for some people, it doesn't matter how many FOIA requests you do or how many hours of scanning and posting of PDFs, they will always say show me the evidence.
