Alderman Moore proclaimed to ABC 7 Chicago....> "A new coffee house should be opening up any day now."
Blognotes: If my buddy Ronnie Wickers were here, he would say, "Coffee Shop, Woo-Woo, Coffee Shop, Woo-Woo". - (Repeat phrase a hundred times or until dizzy.) Let's jump right into the blognotes, shall we?
What a catch phrase Alderman Moore has come up with. "Any day now!"
We've been told this coffee shop was going to open last fall. Kim Bares at DevCorp North again touted this in the new 'Winter 2007' Journal as a 2006 accomplishment.
See, that's one of our most pressing issues we as a community have when dealing with the Alderman and his office and or dealing with the Alderman and his Chamber of Commerce. They love to keep us 'in the dark' with secret back room deals and these fancy 'sound bite' catch phrases.
Catch phrases like this. "Any day now!"
Couldn't Alderman Moore have used the phrase, "Any week now," or "Any month now." Maybe Alderman Moore could try honesty and say, "Any year now." Or "Any decade now."
In the next few weeks, I'll be posting a actual, real-time, photographic updates on this so-called Coffee Shop's - Grand Opening DevCorp North has written so much about in the last few months. There's nothing like going to a grand opening before a election. Alderman Moore tells us it should happen, "Any day now." I can't wait. "Coffee Shop, Woo-Woo, Coffee Shop, Woo-Woo!"

Ronnie Wickers has a signature meter to his verse. I think it might go more like:
"Coffee! WOO! Shop! WOO!"
repeat...
What is the address of this coffee-shop-to-be?
Who cares about another stupid coffee shop. I can have coffee at home or work. How about another nice bar like Poitin Stil? Better yet, how about a BEER GARDEN. Joe helped them tear down the Pinewood (yes, I was at the meeting fighting against it when he spoke) and Hamilton's has been closed for years. I would love a place to sit outside and drink beer while tanning.
I wish politicians would quit acting like every viable business that opens in the ward is their personal accomplishment.
The reason a business opens is because 1)the owners had an idea for product or service they thought they could make a reasonable profit selling b)they wrote a plan and found the money or someone to invest or lend them the money 3)they found the location, negotiated the rent or price, and otherwise implemented their biz plan, and 4)managed to make it past all the credit checks and bureacratic obstruction.
If any credit is due DevCorp, it is perhaps for helping them find a location, which they could have done themselves and which most business owners do themselves. It JoMo or any other pol is due any credit, it is for not obstructing the business every step of the way. If Joe didn't invest in this bus or work on it, then he doesn't deserve any credit when it opens, if that ever happens.
morse man, so..then...we need another coffee shop?
If I ever try to open a biz in this ward, I sure as hell won't go to DevCorp for help.
Good luck to the proprietors of this coffee house. I was by the place today and it is closer to the finish.
