* Ginderske to Join 49th Ward Zoning Committee

A 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park Exclusive

Dear Neighbor,

I am pleased to announce I have appointed Rogers Park activist, Jim Ginderske, to the 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee. Jim will replace Jay Johnson, who resigned from the committee two weeks ago.

Jim is founder of Neighbors for a Healthy Rogers Park and is a leader in the effort to bring a Federally Qualified Health Clinic to the 49th Ward. As a renter, Jim is also active in promoting tenants rights, and participated in a precedent-setting lawsuit against a condominium developer, resulting in a settlement that garnered nearly a quarter of a million dollars for the tenant plaintiffs.

Most recently, Jim ran against me for Alderman of the 49th Ward. He was a thoughtful and worthy opponent, who avoided personal attacks and ran an issues-oriented campaign. Unlike many candidates for office who are long on platitudes and short on specifics, Jim proffered specific proposals and initiatives. I plan to incorporate many of Jim's ideas in my next term as Alderman.

The 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee is a volunteer committee of neighborhood residents, business people and representatives of the major community organizations, who advise me on all zoning and land use issues that come before me as Alderman. The Committee works hand-in-hand with me to evaluate all applications for zoning changes, variances and exceptions and applications for special use permits and street and alley vacations. All applicants are required to appear before the Committee to defend their applications, and Committee members take their responsibilities very seriously. I encourage active debate among Committee members.

After the public at large is given an opportunity to review and comment on a given proposal, the Committee will make a recommendation to me. I almost always follow the Committee's recommendation.

Jim will provide the Committee with an important perspective. I'm honored he has agreed to serve on the Committee and look forward to his thoughtful contributions.

I see Alderman Moore found himself another rubber stamp to replace slumlord Jay Johnson.

It seems to me someone is looking to bring along the JG votes!
I thought JG was anti-JM?

Craig Gernhardt said...

Ginderske should've demanded the Alderman return all campaign contributions from developers before he joined. Otherwise this is nothing more than a political stunt.

After all, that was Ginderske's main platform.

When I heard that JG wasn't getting behind Gordon's effort, I wondered what was next. Seems that JG was anti-Joe until someone else beat him. Hypocritical sore loser!

JoMo is really really desperate. Unfortunately i think his desperation may pay off...

I had a nasty feeling Jim was going to end up in Moore's corner.

someone just needs to find an incriminating picture of JoMo so we can post it everywhere. not even incriminating..just embarassing!

Go Joe! Go Ginderske!

Given what I've heard about Jim's politics, it shouldn't surprise me, but I'm shocked at his total shamelessness. I would have thought he'd be a little more discreet.

What a shocker ! These pre-runoff politicks are playing out kind-a like a Scorsese film !

My spider senses and inside sources indicated months ago that Jim might have always been in bed w/ Joe. Wonder how much Joe's backers also contributed to Jim’s campaign ?

How much more slimy can this get ???

Jim you suck.

Dr O said...

I believe this stunt may backfire on JM. The people who voted for JG MUST be able to see that this is a stunt. Heck, they probably voted for JG last time because he ran an anti-JM platform.
Bringing JG on board to the zone committee leave NO obligation for JM. It may seem to some that JM is now taking into consideration the opinions of his opposition, but JM can get rid of JG as soon as he bucks the system. The JG supporters should understand that a leopard (JM) does not change his spots.

Jim Ginderske: The New Jay Johnson

Ginderske ran a $100K campaign for alderman, mainly funded from debt from a few friends, and what do they get out of it? Same old alderman and a seat on Joe Moore's fake "community" zoning committee. I wonder if those Ginderske voters and contributors understood this might happen.

Joe Moore Delivers on Pledge of Open Process

Under intense pressure from his constituents, and facing a close campaign for re-election, Alderman Joe Moore today in an e-mail moved to increase the openness of his development processes in the 49th Ward. The number of names of the members of his "community" zoning committee Moore has revealed to his constituents is up from ZERO to ONE.

After the 2/27 election, Jim had a meeting with someone and when asked what he was going to do next he said, "Go to NYC and get laid." Aside from the obvious juvenile nature of the the response, one had to wonder why it is that Jimmy can't get laid in Chicago. Now I see he was saving himself for Joe.

Et tu Jim?

It's worse for Ginderske to do this than Sullivan. She at least had the excuse that she was broke, and she wasn't running for office herself.

Ginderske is in no danger of going broke or at least he shouldn't be. He has many options and had no material need to be such a whore.

Jarvis_smells_like_piss said...

okay let's look at this logically. if JoMo really was kicked out office, we wouldn't have anything to complain about! I wouldn't be able to waste my time at work on the blog anymore. let's be honest, JoMo is an important part of our existence.

Sally;

Quite a slap in the face huh. We need you to contact Don Gordon's office and see what you can do in for Don in the precinct near Pratt and Sheridan.

Good bless you. Your quite a plum.

My last comment, which I hope Craig will delete, is incorrect.

Tom Westgard's blog Rogers Park Rake is still there, and his March 18 post (yesterday)makes reference to his decision as to which candidate he will choose to vote for in the runoff. He says he finds both candidates very problemetic and says he has reached the decision as to who to vote for after much thought.

He says he will tell us who he intends to vote for in a future post.

How much y'all wanna bet he has gone over to the Mooron's side?

We have lot's of work to do to defeat Joe. Come on over to Don's office and volunteer to hit the streets, everyone, because the Gordon people need everyone on the ground they can get.

So if you were anti Moore and backing Ginderske, what does that make you today, other than just a little silly. Sorry for your loss.
Congrats to Ginderske and good bye Jay.

Lots of people are posting nasty over this, so mature. It's called politics now go get your shine boxes

Alderman Moore said....>"I almost always follow the Committee's recommendation."

Prove it. Post ALL the 49th ward zoning meeting minutes and ALL the votes (and who voted which way) for the last year on your website.

I remember stopping at the Greenleaf condo conversion last spring and interviewing several residents who were holding out. Jim had moved months before. Joe and Jim both know Margot Hackett did nearly all of the legwork, not Jim.

More SPIN on the truth folks, that's all. Don't waste time worrying about the little folk, get out and work.

Ming said...

What happened to all those principles Jim pontificated about during the forums?

Speaking of missing items, why is that copies of minutes and agendas for the Zoning Committee aren't posted to the 49th Ward website? Oh, I know why - so theres more room on the web site for Joe Moore's biography and "Accomplishments" ...urrp!

Craig Gernhardt said...

Psst, Joe, I love you.

What a bunch of whiners.
Get over it already.

As for Stunts, Craig, you're a fine one to talk.

Toni said...

Amen! YOU and the steadfast tenants WON not Joe.

Patrick said...

I saw Ginderske earlier and asked him why he had sided with Joe Moore. He responded by spitting in my face and saying: "I don't talk to plebians anymore, I'm a slumlord now." He proceeded to pull out a 100 dollar bill, light it on fire, and use it to light a cigar. He ashed the cigar onto a homeless person, got into his jaguar and peeled out - driving directly through the wall of a housing project. His license plate read "IH8FUN" I guess that's what happens when you sell your integrity. Thanks a lot Joe Moore.

Toni said...

RP Dude - it's illegal if it's true. Lots of ugly rumors are spawned when Moore, Fagus and Frazier et al do their election antics.

It's also illegal to have dirty politics in a polling place but did that stop them?

Hugh said...

Margot,

thanks for your post

thanks for taking the time to tell the story

Jim -- your health care advocacy is all hat, no cattle. That an application you pushed for a health care center that will most assuredly not happen has been accepted is NOTHING. You can go fill out a job application for a management position at SBUX and they will accept it; doesn't mean you will get the job. You can place a limit order on Etrade to sell SBUX at $40. Etrade will take your order. Doesn't mean it will ever be filled.

Cook County is bankrupt. The county does not have the money for this project nor will they have the money for it anytime soon. So, my question to you is: why would you spend your time working to get a piece of paper accepted that will result in NOTHING?

Answer: because it sounded good when you were stumping for votes, and maybe it will sound good as you leverage your vote getting expertise into a paid gig in politics.

As my grandpa used to say, "Pretty is as pretty does." Wow. What an eye opener. Well, he is an electrician. I'm assuming he knows how to put a 9-volt into a smoke detector.

Didn't Don Gordon sit on Joe Moore's Parks and Beaches committee, turn it into RP Conservancy and then do nothing with it?

It must be awesome to be so sanctimonious and self righteous.

and Craig, did you get a good look? you almost tripped over your dog, you were staring so hard.

Jim Ginderske;

Of course Mr. Johnson being replaced is positive for the community, as will be Alderman Moore's eventual replacement, and yours for that matter.

Craig Gernhardt said...

The Reader covers this story.

Hugh said...

So Jim,

Who else is on that committee with you?

After Moore's announcement we know one person who's on it and one person who's not.

If it's a "community" zoning committee, why can't the community know who's on it?

And where are the meeting notices, minutes, and agendas Moore promised?

Did Moore take them off his website because he doesn't want us to cross-reference his zoning business with his campaign fund-raising business?

Will they return after the election?

"I assure you I will be more vigilant about posting notices of future meetings on my web site."

Jim,

talking about "positive change" and Moore in the same context - you're starting to sound like Fagus.

Rebecca said...

Jim,

Publicly funded clinics are all supposed to be awarded based on assessed need. The fact that your application was filed for federal funding rather than county funds as you originally planned doesn't make it more likely to happen. It only means you succeeded in filing your application. Congratulations on that.

I hope that if that project ever sees the light of day, it will be passed to properly qualified health care professionals to administrate. Having been a member of IBEW, a day trader and a member of ZLUAC is not adequate preparation to run a federally funded health clinic, regardless of whatever assurances Mr. Fagus may have given you to the contrary.

" ... if I do eventually decide to endorse anyone it will be because they commit to my ideas, not because I was paid anything."

The transformation to weasel is complete.

Notice here the weasel does NOT say he will not take cash from the overflowing larders of Citizens for Joe Moore to retire the considerable debts of Ginderske 2007

The weasel just wants us to understand that WHEN he endorses Moore it will have NOTHING to do with Joe's money.

Other than Jim Ginderske’s close core of campaign staff (like TW for example), Jim’s voting supporters and volunteers are coming over to Gordon in droves. Jim has really disrespected his would-be constituency. Couldn’t Jim have waited another 6 weeks to accept his new position, assuming Joe is going to win ? If Jim is all about positive change in the neighborhood, perhaps Jim could have gone to work for Gordon after the runoff. Is Jim that broke and desperate ?

Now I understand why Jim did not canvas precincts on election day that were predicted to be Joe Mo strongholds.

Anonymous said...

Just speculating, but upon thinking about it “a-little more” (no pun)…
if Jim goes to work for Joe after the run-off, Joe gets far less bang for his buck. Joe’s no dummy.

Anonymous said...

Didn’t see any Jim G. poll watchers in nursing homes either, Moore, Gordon, and Adam’s had them there. Huh ?

The North Coast said...

There was a Ginderske poll watcher in my precinct, a nice guy well known to me, very dedicated. He, like other Ginderske supporters, feels he's been had.
