Hi Craig, Do you know about a guy named Donal O'Caroll? He has a tear down/condo conversion next door to Kevin's O'Neil's house on Farwell. Someone I can't name told me O'Caroll received phone calls from Joe Moore's office requesting contributions. He had to donate $250, not once - but twice.
I did some snooping for you. The house was purchased by O'Carroll on 11/25/1997 for $80K. O'Carroll is the owner of 1440 W Farwell, PIN 11-32-116-012 next door. There were building permits were requested for 6 condos. The final approval was on 2/10/06. Then I went to Joe's campaign contributions and found this interesting contribution, just like my friend said.

Craig, Why wasn't there a community meeting about this single family home that got torn down in favor of these six condos? Why did Donny give Alderman Moore $250 bucks the exact same day he got final approval for the demolition?
Signed,
Frustrated with the Lack of Information Farwell
Blognotes: Alderman Moore claims he holds community meetings for every development, as a matter of right. But the only single family home teardown community meeting on Farwell I know about in 2006 was this meeting.
The single family home teardown next to 49th ward zoning committee member Kevin O'Neil at 1440 West Farwell - I heard nothing about. Plus, I never saw any flyers for a public meeting on the matter. This must be another one of those smoke filled, back-room deals? Talk about hint of possible influence.

jarvis now has green looking standing water on the stairs. i'm not sure if it's rain, piss, or some acid liquid...i hate JoMo.
Maybe this is old news, but, I just got a mass email from Joe that announces is newest Ward Zoning member...Jim Ginderske.
What a sly move on JM's part. What a sell-out on Ginderske's part. Glad I didn't vote for him.
Why does the Jarvis el stop smell like piss?
Where do you think Joe, kevin and joes others puppets go to take a pee?
Answear: At the Jarvis el !
so i see that ginderske is now on JoMo's land use committee. how convenient. now jomo will get G's votes. sigh. he's gonna be reelected, isnt he?
Is Kevin O'Neil's place the rotting possible-teardown next door. I put in a complaint many years ago about the two decrepitating homes, which were both actually "double" houses with ugly architecture and in dangerously decrepit condition.
My complaint about Joe Moore in this situation centers around the fact that these two dangerous dumps were condemned years ago. Why were they allowed to stand in that condition as long as they did, anyway?
My sympathy to the developer here for having to pay Joe Moore a "contribution" to tear down a dangerous eyesore in order to build a decent condo on his own lot, putting his own money at risk.
There should have been a community meeting years ago, about letting these 2 squalid eyesores sit there degrading the block as long as they did.
Only under Moore or someone like him would the condition of these homes be tolerated. The one that was torn down should have been condemned and vacated. It wasn't like the owner was poor, either. These were both valuable properties.
Make Kevin fix his dump up. It's an eyesore.
I meant to say, in my first comment, that these places SHOULD have been condemned, and weren't.
Is Kevin's place the rotting dump next door? It should be condemned. Too bad for him we're in a down market, so if he's landbanking the hole, he missed his chance.
Dear North Coast:
It is interesting how someone can consider a building structure, such as Kevin O'Neil's house, questionable simply by external observations only. One might suggest that your opinion is subjective, and quite shakey by superficial judgment with no substantial proof to back up your criticism. Notably, I have visited the O'Neil family home on a number of occasions and avow that the structure is of sound, structural integrity. North Coast, if you must pass judgment, do your -home- work first.
> Kevin O'Neil got a driveway and parking lot personally made for him behind his house.
Then why do other constituents requesting permits/permission get ignored?
Jayne,
The appearance of a place is important to the quality of a neighborhood. Sorry, but you have to do a better job of maintaining your place than this. Kevin's place looks like a slum, sorry 'bout that.
My attitude is and has always been, that if you can't afford to maintain your place so that it doesn't look like it's about to fall down, then you should sell it and scale down into something less challenging.
I don't need to "do my homework" to be critical of a homeowner who is a pig. That property is a pox on the area.
If it's good enough for someone like Kevin to liven in, OK, but he should be made to bring it up to reasonable standards.
Many suburbs, such as Schaumburg, maintain a "dirty dozen" list, of the 12 worst-looking homes in the burb. They also fine, and if your property is too dirty they will come in and clean it up for you and send you the bill. This happened to an affluent homeowner of my acquaintance whose property looked like a junkyard.
We should do the same. It's really disgusting that the aldermoron and his toadies have the worst looking properties in the neighborhood.
i guess you guys can dish it out but you can't take it. ya sit around all day in mom's basement, talking about your hatered of jomo and all the "problems" (like latino families with too many kids.), patting yourselves on the back for you "activism". then someone takes your words, and puts them on the streets, and you are outraged.
sorry to have to tell you this, but the internet is not your living room. your words are there for all to see. if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
i suppose this post will last about 2 minutes here.
