* Alderman Moore Tries to Intimidate Gordon's Herro

Doesn't our Alderman have more important things to do? Yesterday Alderman Moore and four of his thugs barged into David Herro's workplace, demanding to immediately speak with Mr. Herro about his financial support for Don Gordon.

Waving the above mailer showing Alderman Moore as 'soft on crime', the Alderman wanted a 'on the spot' meeting without an appointment. But Mr. Herro and his staff were not to be bullied by big, bad Alderman Moore. He was politely turned away. Full story here.

BLOGNOTES: Alderman Moore, you look childishly foolish. You spend hundreds of thousands of dollars lying and fabricating in your political propaganda ads. Then when Don Gordon produces the truth, you pout and throw a tantrum - while trying to act like a intimidator, tough guy.

In truth, Alderman Moore is nothing but a thug, bullshit politician. Alderman Moore is a habitual liar, who's pulling out all the dirty tricks in the book. Why? Because he's desperate to keep his high paying, cushy job. It's no wonder residents don't feel safe in the 49th ward streets. After Wednesday's blogpost, residents won't feel safe in their 49th ward homes with Alderman Moore in charge either.

Question of the day. What do you think of Alderman Moore's $100,000 plus negative advertising campaign, filled with false information and outright lies?

This is awesome! I'm beginning to feel that the run-off should be postponed for another month or so. By that time Moore would probably COMPLETELY self-destruct.

"Showing up at someone's place of work without an appointment?
That's high school behavior, not the behavior of a leader in the third-largest city in the United States," Herro said in a telephone interview from Germany."

Glad someone else noticed the immaturity level. The demeanor of the 'leader' has had the trickle down effect. His campaign reminds me of one from HS or college.

Can't show and face his opponent and discuss issues, instead Mr. Moore hides behind ACORN! What a leader!

So Joe Moore can shake down all the developers and nursing home operators in the ward to run his campaign (plus pull in big bucks from unions and animal rights activists), but Don Gordon isn't supposed to accept money from some rich dude who looks to be a Republican. So how is he supposed to run a serious campaign? With his own savings? Give me a break.

Incumbents have a built in advantage, but Joe has taken this to a new extreme. I am a former supporter of his and the desperate attempts to cling to power repulse me. I'm voting for Don Gordon this time.

Seriously I doubt that they really disagree about many issues, but I see that election as more about a difference in management st tyles and a difference in dedication to working on issues in and affecting the 49th ward neighborhood.

If after 16 years you have to fight this kind of campaign to stayin power Joe, it should tell you something: It's time for a change.

It's interesting that this is how Moore reacts to a bulletin accusing him of being "soft on crime." He's redirecting media and voter attention away from the real issue (crime) by trying to whip up fears over potential Republican connections in Gordon's donor pool. Anyone with half an analytical brain should see that this is a pretty sorry tactic.

If Joe Moore is so upset about the accusations in the bulletin, why does he not directly address them? Why not hold a press conference or put out his own flier about what he has done to cut down on crime in Rogers Park?

Even if he HAS been proactive on this issue (which I question), much more needs to be done about crime in RP. Some enclaves of this community are overrun with gangs, drugs, and slumlords. What precisely will each candidate do to change that? How dedicated IS each candidate to enacting a change?

I would much rather see Gordon and Moore talk about these real issues than answering ridiculous attacks about Swift-boaters and bananas.

The behavior reminds us of high school because that's the last time Joe Moore had a real job. He's afraid he'll actually have to WORK for a living like the rest of us!

Moore's purchase of TV commercials is truly an act of desperation. A commercial for an aldermanic race is about as ineffective a use of campaign funds as I can think of. For every viewer living in the 49th Ward, Moore and the campaign contributions he has received from all the slumlords in the ward are paying to have the commerical broadcast to about 300 viewers outside of the 49th Ward.

By the way, while the State Board of Elections does not list Mr. Herro's contributions to federal candidates and related committees, it does show Herro's endorsements for local, legislative and statewide candidates have included such "notorious reactionaries" as Barack Obama and Forrest Claypool!

Ladies and gentlemen, just one more week of this garbage. Then you can show Alderliar Moore the door to political oblivion.

Actually, this is my favorite pro-Moore talking point -- "crime is down over 50% since he took office."

yeah, you mean since 199-f'ing-one? Crime is down? Really?

What a load of crap. When I questioned him outside the Morse El stop, that was his first talking point. His second was the fieldhouse, which I guess is finally being built? Or is there just a fence and a hole in the ground.

Not impressed.

Anyway, what I really want to know is, who is going to step up and get TIF money or SOMETHING to fix up the synagogue on Pratt? I can't think of anything less welcoming to a neighborhood than "look, here's a boarded-up burned out synagogue."

Really.

This is just the best! Joe, you might want to read Saul Alinsky instead of the cliff notes. Nah. . . that would be too much work.

You are soft on crime. Actually, you don't even acknowledge it because: 1) you are never here!; 2) all your time is spent ass kissing your campaign contributors, none of whom are also here. In 16 years I've seen you in RP exactly twice: when you trick or treated my house (please don't come again) and when you strolled through my garden like you owned the place during a garden walk and you never even bothered to introduce yourself.

Joe is soft on crime!
When someone is killed by gang violence in our community he may hold a prayer circle.

However he passes an ordinance for geese.

My guess is that Joe never walks home alone at night from a CTA station. Several years ago I was beat up under a viaduct much like the one pictured in Gordon’s flyer.

Yet, I still have not made up my mind.

I disagree with Don’s position who wants to take down the blue light cameras. I believe that cameras are tools used by law enforcement. Yes they can be abused when used improperly. However, a camera helped expose that very unprofessional cop who beat up the woman bartender and video tape examinations assist law enforcement agencies from wrongfully convicting innocent people.

If cameras only move crime as Gordon claims, well then let’s move crime out of our Ward.

If cameras help police fight crime which I believe, let’s keep them and fight crime and not goose liver.

It's unbelievable that Joe would actually barge uninvited into the office of his opponant's contributor.

Did Don Gordon barge into the workplaces of Don's numerous celebrity and socialite contributors?

You know that Joe is desperate as hell when he falls to attacking, not his opponant, even, but a bunch of little bloggers like myself who are scarcely known south of Devon Ave. Even funnier, he attacks behind assumed names and untraceable sign-ons. Who the hell runs the Rogers Park Daily blog, anyway?

When an officeholder is reduced to attacking his opponant by quoting some no-count blogger and sometime Gordon volunteer like myself, it is sad and laughable.

Start looking for another job, Joe Mooron. Find something more suitable for your abilities, like, working with ducks. Why don't you get a job cleaning out the bird cages at the zoo, or something like that?

Dr O said...

Actually Margot that would be fine! Though Moore is trying to paint Gordon as a republican, as he did with Adams, Gordon IS a democrat.

Moore has LOTS of MONEY and TOO FEW VOTES

Ever since Moore figured out he was in a run-off, he has been telling his faithful, just wait, the Jerry Roper Chamber of Commerce Big Box Money will start POURING in ANY DAY NOW, just like the coffee shop. It didn't and it didn't and this is the best they could come up with.

Pathetic.

FYI Gordon and Blue Lights...

During the debates Don stated his opinion on the crime blue lights strategy. From what I remember Don did say that the blue lights do not represent a complete crime stopping strategy. Do they work? Yes to a degree. And I agree with Don that we need a new approach that includes significantly more hands-on management from the Alderman.

Ok great, Joe pioneered bringing in the CAPS program a decade ago. It has helped Chicago tremendously. It sure seems that now Joe has lost interest in fighting crime and the other important ward issues. Ask yourself this -- When you talk to Joe do you get the impression of a sense of urgency from him? Does he act like there is fire in his belly? I don't see it. A change in guard can instill a new sense of purpose, vision and a well needed shot (pun not intended)in the arm for improvement.

By the way, I find Gordon's mailers very attractive and on target. I showed them to people I work with, and they were favorably impressed.

Karen Hoover was the energy behind the startup of CAPS not Joe Moore.

Some time back Tom Westgard authored an excellent letter detailing how Joe Moore was using people, who were forced to work without pay, to collect signatures for is ballot petitions. A copy of the letter is available on the Rogers Park Bench blog. I think it's an outrage that Joe Moore has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on television advertisements, that will be seen by a handful of eligible voters, while not paying his signature collectors. You may not be able to get behind Don Gordon but after reading this letter I don't see how anyone could vote for Joe Moore with a clean conscience.

Joe, I guess bullying has been so effective for so many years that you are reluctant to give it up.

David Herro would like you to make an appointment at his office, like real grown-ups do. About your canvassing activites: how about you try ringing residents' building bells before you walk into ourlocked apartment buildings uninvited.

In case you are unaware, the concept is called 'good manners'.

Margot- oh it's only mean because the truth hurts. It continues to amaze me though how tone can be so mis-read on the blogs.
