* "Monday, Hell Begins"; Where's Alderman Moore?

CTA gives go-ahead for a rail headache
Work to start Monday will tie up 3 'L' lines
By Jon Hilkevitch, Tribune transportation reporter, March 31, 2007

Almost three years of unprecedented service reductions will start as scheduled Monday on the CTA's busiest rail corridor, the transit agency's board decided Friday, despite calls from riders and some aldermen to postpone construction work until better transportation alternatives can be worked out.

"Monday, hell begins," CTA chairwoman Carole Brown said...

"This three-track operation is off on the wrong track," Moore said in a statement read by an aide [Moore's chief of staff Kevin Cosgrove] at the meeting.

"Rapid transit, it ain't -- and it isn't safe transit, either, I fear," Moore added.

ALDERMAN MOORE IS AFRAID THE CTA IS NOT SAFE!

WBEZ, January 12, 2007

Host Steve Edwards: "49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore announced plans yesterday [January 11, 2007] to hold City Council hearings on CTA performance. ... When do you expect these hearings to take place?"

Moore: "I'm hopeful that they will take place before the next City Council meeting [Wednesday, February 7th, 2007]. I have to speak to the chairman of the Transportation committee in the City Council, Alderman Tom Allen [38th], and I'll work with him to schedule a hearing date as quickly as possible, because people in my neighborhood and throughout the City have had it up to here with respect to the service delays on the CTA."

YOU ARE NOT CHAIR OF THE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE.

YOU ANNOUNCED HEARINGS WITHOUT TALKING TO THE CHAIR OF THE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE?

YOU ANNOUNCED HEARINGS BEFORE THEY WERE SCHEDULED?

YOU ANNOUNCED YOUR CALL FOR HEARINGS?

ALDERMAN MOORE, WE'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH YOU ISSUING PRESS RELEASES AND DOING NOTHING!

Moore: "We will be holding hearings. I have already spoken to the Chairman of the Transportation Committee [Alderman Tom Allen, 38th] and he has agree to hold a hearing."

Host Carol Marin: "When will that be?"

Moore: "It will be before the election [the February 27, 2007 primary].

"I will let you know when the hearings are scheduled. "

I would like to know where JoMo was five years ago when all these budget troubles at the CTA were making major headlines?

Does JoMo really think his actions now will result in a positive change at the CTA?

Note to commonsense: Lying Joe was doing his usual grandstanding, and the rest of the City Council were keeping their distance from him like the political leper he generally is. The figured that if they linked up with Moore, any chance of averting service cuts planned for their area would be flushed down the toilet.

Good news, I heard that Joe Moore started caring about the working class today, and he plans to immediately shift his efforts towards improving the community...
